Amazon.com is saying July 14th so I'd guess at least two weeks after that for it to get to the UK. A lot of books are getting pushed back and nobody knows what's happening.

I gotta say, seeing the whole comics industry go on hold whilst even film companies did straight to streaming rental with new releases has been maddening. I wish the direct market model would just hurry up and collapse.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

Yeah even in normal circumstances trying to work out when a trade is released is like trying to hold water in your hands.

Been filling out my X-Men collection during lockdown.

I've now got all of Morrison's run, most of Brubaker's run, all of Whedon's run (one of my favourite comic runs of all time), all of Fraction's run, all of Gillen's run, all of Bendis' run and the entire Hickman era up to DoX #5. I like the X-Men is what I'm saying.

My research has determined Uncanny #519 is where Beast began his slide into awfulness which was only fixed in Dawn of X. They must have restored him from a Whedon backup.

Diamond might be about to die.

In a seismic shift for the comic book industry, DC has cut ties with Diamond Comic Distributors. The announcement was made via an email to retailers sent Friday morning, with the company telling customers that all orders for DC product will be fulfilled by Lunar Distribution and UCS Comic Distributors for periodical releases and Penguin Random House for graphic novels and collected editions.

An email sent to retailers explained, “We recognize that, to many of you, this may seem like a momentous decision. However, we can assure you that this change in DC's distribution plans has not been made lightly and follows a long period of thought and consideration. The change of direction is in line with DC's overall strategic vision intended to improve the health of, and strengthen, the Direct Market as well as grow the number of fans who read comics worldwide.”

Penguin being in charge of trades should be a massive improvement. Release dates might finally mean somehting.

Is Ta-Nehisi Coates' Captain America run any good? I couldn’t really get into his Black Panther series, although I’m still only on vol. 2, but I noticed vol. 1 is on Amazon Prime.

I thought part of the reason the industry went on hold was to protect local comic stores?

It is, but I'd rather they had let the direct market model die. It's holding back the medium.

So Warren Ellis got outed as a creep less than 24 hours after I spent £70 on Authority and Planetary omnibuses. That was a purchase I regret.

It's okay from what I've read. I've got nothing bad to say about it but it doesn't excel in anything. The best books at Marvel right now are:

Immortal Hulk
The Hickman X-Men era starting from House of X/Powers of X

My interest in comics as a whole has completely dropped off a cliff. Dropped everything but I'll be picking up the rest of Coates' Black Panther run and Immortal Hulk in trades when they're in a sale.

The first Immortal Hulk omnibus which covers issues 1-15 is £14 on Amazon.

Question, is Comixology Unlimited available in the UK? If not, is Kindle Unlimited the same thing/has the same content?

Annoying, is there a reason why ComiXology Unlimited is not available in the UK? Have they said it’s coming?

I'd guess it's down to regional distribution licenses for some of the various comic publishers.

I feel bad for Dark Horse - they've been doing those comics since the 80s and are synonymous to the brand. No doubt Marvel will make a success of it though and we'll get another movie at some point.
