I cancelled my order and picked it up from World's Apart in Liverpool over the weekend.

What's the plan with volume 7 then? I've seen some places solicit it with a different name, and others just as Dawn of X vol 7.

Surely we're beyond the "Dawn" at this point.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

Yeah there was talk it was going to be renamed Nation Building going forward. I don't think they've actually released what the covers look like for DoX 7 and beyond so it might happen.

Reading a plot summary of Dawn of X sounds like they’ve turned the X-Men into some kind of quasi-religious terror organisation led by anti-Xavier. Is it actually good?

House of X/Powers of X were gooseberry fool hot but I kinda fell off it after that. I'm probably going to just wait til the end of the run and pick it up then.

There are cult vibes but it's definitely not a terror organisation. They've set up their own nation on Krakoa and all mutants are considered citizens of Krakoa. It's the most interesting the X-Men have been in ages.

Start with House Of X/powers Of X.

I'd argue it closer to a mystical/science fiction version of the state of Israel.

I’m only just starting All New X-Men (coming up to reading Battle of the Atom so I’m currently at 2013 Marvel) but I look forward to reading Hickman’s X-Men stuff as I noticed it’s going up on Marvel Unlimited now.

Once you've finished Bendis' run you can essentially skip every X book which was published in the interim until the Hickman era. The end of Bendis' run arguably leads in better.

Is the Inhumans vs X-Men stuff worth reading?

Definitely not. Literally skip that whole era until House of X, plotwise the only notable events are Xavier and Jean coming back to life. Xavier comes back in Astonishing X-Men and there's a separate Resurrection of Jean Grey miniseries. Not worth reading though.

I just realised that Dawn of X vol. 7 isn't due out until the end of August. strawberry float the direct market.

Big IDW sale on Comixology, grabbed the 3 Ghostbusters omnibus volumes so far.

They have the TMNT stuff on sale, they have the IDW collections (which print limited series and everything in order) or just the trades of the main series. Are the collections worth it or is it better to just read the main line series?

Just finished reading SpiderMan Life Story after hearing about it on The Weekly Planet podcast this past week.

A really good read and a great idea to show the full journey of the characters life. I feel like I could have used a bit more detail on every single decade and ensuing event though as a lot of it felt too brisk, but it seemed the focus was more on the whole story than the individual events. Art was really nice too.

As an aside and probably stupidly obvious to all you, but I really like ComiXology, it’s so cheap. I got Life Story for less than £4 and have never paid more than that for any of the Alien ones I’ve been reading either. It’s nice to be able just to take a chance on something with no expectations.

I'll download free comics when Comixology is doing an offer but I could never go digital completely. I like having a big full bookshelf. Plus you'd miss out on the joy after waiting five months after release date for Amazon to dispatch omnibuses.

PSA- Uncanny X-Men Volume 1 (Claremont) appears to be in stock now on Forbidden Planet UK. £57 + £5.50 delivery but that delivery charge is swallowed up if you order multiple things at the same time.

I've ordered a copy and it says it's in stock and ready to be dispatched.

Just working through House of X/Power of X on MU. It is absolutely excellent and one of the best things I've read in ages (comic or otherwise). Up to #5 ar the monent, not sure how much of the run is available or where it goes afterwards.

I'm not sure how it's organised on MU but are you reading it in release order?

Yeah, following the reading order at the back of each episode.

Good, good. They keep those reading orders going forward but don't bother reading Fallen Angels.
