Picked up way too many games in the sales.

Racket Fury is a great table tennis game with a ton of table options, left or right handed play and good physics. It lacks multiplayer at the minute but I had a response from the developer and they have said that this is currently in beta testing so should be out soon as an update.

I am also addicted to Headmaster at the minute. It's essentially heading a football at targets but I just want to have one more go. It now has a party mode via a recent update. Time to go back to thinking I'm Alan Shearer

Finished Moss, wonderful little game (unfortunately all too little). Probably my favourite VR experience so far. Very comfortable to play, yet the effect is really charming. It’s a cool little puzzle adventure dotted with action so pretty much my favourite type of game. The story was meh but just going thrthe environments provided plenty of reason to continue by itself. The Moss character is wonderfully cute as well and adds something to the experience that Astro Bot is sorely lacking in my opinion.

All throughout my time playing I couldn’t help but think how cool a Zelda title like this would be. You definitely lose something with the fixed camera but it definitely makes it a more pleasant playing experience as even the casual pace of Astro Bot I can only take an hour of.

Would love a more expansive sequel to this or other games in a similar vein.

Overall you would say Moss is better than Astro-bot? I love Astro-bot, I keep hovering over buying Moss since it's down to £15, but I can't help thinking it'll seem a bit tame after Astro-bot. I played the Moss demo, it seemed pretty good (but not as incredible as the reviews seem to make out), so is it one of those games where the full game is a lot better than the demo?

The above post is followed by a winky, smiley or facepalm as appropriate.

I imagine the demo is perfectly representative of the full game.

I like AstroBot but once you get over the VR effect it’s a pretty basic platformer, which I found uncomfortable to play for anything more than an hour. Moss was just a more enjoyable game for me and I was looking around using the VR more because it was a more comfortable and charming world.

I will say that you're the first person I've seen to prefer Moss over Astro-Bot.

Personally I prefer AB, but Moss is utterly glorious as well and I can understand why some might prefer it. Until November this year it was easily my VR GOTY (Then we got Tetris, AB and Beat Sabre in very quick succession).

Did a quick 45 minute test stream on my Rift last night and I've got a way of seeing Twitch chat in-game, so it's something I plan on doing more of.

After the Oculus Home when I first set it up, Google Earth was the first thing I tried.

It's ridiculously impressive. Weird as well, being able to stand "outside" my house while I'm "inside".

I did that too, it's pretty much a real life version of this:

I've just finished Moss and personally found it inferior to Astro Bot.

I can appreciate the presentation and atmosphere Moss offers is impressive, and it did have some challenging puzzles.

However I had far more fun with Astro Bot which offered a longer, more varied game and had it's own charms that appealed to me more than those of Moss, but to each their own.

My understanding is that there is a Moss sequel planned/in the works. I'd definitely be interested to see how that turns out.

Astro Bot is filled with fun little touches, wonder, ingenuity and... it's just not that fun to actually play. The control you have over the charming as strawberry float little bot is very basic. There's no fun to moving and jumping in the world like there is in a (wait for it) Mario game. It calls itself a platformer, but it's more a game of charming and wonderful things happening at and around you, oh and there's also some jumping to do.

Contrast that aspect to Moss and, if that's a thing you highly value, then I can easily see why Moss might be the better game for you. The way Quill moves and responds to your input makes it a much more fun game to control. God, those animations!
Personally I'm undecided on which I like more. Both games have their ups and downs. Both are good games marred by some aspects (Moss by the combat and short length, Astro Bot by the platforming gameplay and controls).

Tumble on PSVR is currently 58% off, so only £3.79. I played the demo and loved it sochave snapped that up, no chance of motion sickness either :slol:

Playing I Expect You To Die on PSVR, and I highly recommend it for it's current sale price. Not very long, but another pretty good game for those starting off in VR as there is very little movement. The opening credits are amazing too.

Spent an hour or so yesterday getting to grips with Elite Dangerous in VR, using my HOTAS. The HOTAS on it's own brings much more to the game, but combining it with VR is absolutely astounding.

It doesn't take away from the fact that the game can be slow and grindy as hell, but when you're actually "in" those crafts and that universe it's mind blowing. Especially when you nail a docking manoeuvre. Ridiculously immersive.

It's actually making me interested in Star Citizen (If it ever bloody well releases) enough that I'll check out their next free weekend, whenever that is.

Wait a minute...what?

I'm not sure you were playing the same game I did. I'm sure most people who played it had fun playing it.

There's no fun in moving and jumping?? That sounds like a completely different game to the Astro Bot I played.

As did I. Well, I had fun while playing it. Little of that had to do with the controls and the actual platforming mechanics, more about simply inhabiting the game's wonderful world and experiencing the countless wonderful things that happen at and around you in each level.
The bosses were really good fun, though. Best part of the game probably.

HSH28 wrote:There's no fun in moving and jumping?? That sounds like a completely different game to the Astro Bot I played.

Just my personal opinion. I found little to no nuance to the controls. There's no momentum, no weight, no personality. There's no equivalent to Mario's longjump, dive or cap throw, nothing like Celeste's dash (let alone the near-infinite intricacies of the dash-jumps). Overall I just found very little of what I personally appreciate about platformers.
I like the game, but I don't love it. That's probably okay.
