My PSVR has come out the loft over the past few weeks, and my kid is really into it. He's only five, and I was aware of the age minimums, so we're limiting his play time and he seems to be getting on ok with it.

We're currently playing through Astrobot together, taking it in turns to do stuff/I'll help him with the tricky sections, etc. I know I'm preaching to the converted here but holy crap that is such a good game. I've just done level 2-4, Astro Jones, and my god it's incredible. Hard to concentrate on playing when you're just shouting 'Woaaah' all the way through.

Yeah it's a great game. My playthrough was slightly ruined by an unresolvable issue (for me), where the virtual controller would keep rotating to a 30° angle over the course of a few minutes. Shaking the controller would recallibrate it, but in the end i spent most of the game just obsessing over my off centre virtual DS4. This happened on 2 different PS4's in 2 different rooms of my house.

I can only imagine how enjoyable the game would have been without these issues though - i played it all the way through and loved it.

Actually, that cropped up yesterday. I'd say it was also a 30 degree angle. I did a full reset of the calibration/seating position/camera position etc and that seems to have sorted it for now, but I suspect it may come back.

The tracking on the PSVR is woeful. Ruins the experience for me, which is a shame as the headset itself is good quality.

Tbh, with my kid being so into games, it's got my wife playing too. Everyone loves the VR so I would definitely consider investing in a better setup. I guess there's a chance that could be on PS5, if it ever becomes possible to get one.

So even though it's a flawed experience, for the 160 notes I spent on it it's more than shown me enough to be confident I'd get my money's worth from a better system.

I got mine at launch and very much got my moneys worth. I now primarily use my Quest (1) due to the convenience and the tracking, but I think that PSVR has some realy great platform exclusives and much more tempting game pricing in the sales than that offered by Facebook.

Speaking of Quest - I played Walkabout Mini Golf for 45 minutes yesterday. If anyone was on the fence about that title I would encourage them to go for it, its fantastic and immerses you in some fantastic environments.

So this thread has been transferred over to me for some reason  My only interest in VR lies with PSVR 2, for which I have made a thread, so if someone who is more generally into VR would like to take the reins of this thread, then please let me know and I'll get the thread passed over to you. Thank you.

No more Wimbledon for you :(

Seriously though, that is some gooseberry fool build quality for it to just keep happening. At what point does it crack, when you put it on and off, or when you're moving around?

It seems to crack while I have it on at some point because I only ever notice the crack when I've taken it off. I heard a weird noise yesterday and didn't think anything of it, but it sounded like something was rattling while I was moving around and I guess it was that.

I've just used the one that came with it and it's been fine this whole time.

Have got even more IRLers into it now and games like Onward are just ridiculous fun in a group.

Going to give this updated PCVR thing a go at some point, now that it's more feasible without needing the cable.

Just bought that ridiculousy overpriced Premium Head Strap for my Vive as well as Optical inserts so I can play without glasses. Really hoping it makes a difference as much as I love my Vive I do find it very uncomfortable to play any longer than 30 mins-1 hour.

Hopefully this will all arrive and then it can be too hot to play for 3 months

I've got that strap and it makes the world of difference, plus having built in headphones is great too.

Excellent to hear! :D

Couldn't believe how much it cost when I saw it! Thought it was gonna be £40!

Does it balance the weight better? One thing I don't like is the Vive always felt very front loaded. Hadnt thought of the sound aspect, but yeah I guess that will make a difference as well. one less cable to worry about is always good.

Arriving tomorrow

Yes the price is disgusting for what it is, although I suppose the built in headphones justify some of it.

It does take a lot of the weight off the face, although not nearly as well as the PSVR headband does. Don't fall in to the trap I did of ratcheting too much force on it to draw the screen closer to your face, as you'll put pressure on it and give yourself a bad headache. I have it set to one strength, then just pop it on and off from there. Having the cable route along the side and off the back rather than across the top of your head is nice too.

Do you use the knob on the back to tighten/loosen each time you put it on or do you just leave it as is and pull it on/off

I've got so into VR lately - PSVR, Rift S and just got the Quest 2.

I bought the Quest 2 solely for wireless VR in those games where you just need the extra space like Blade & Sorcery, Eleven Table Tennis etc. It worked out well that the Air Link update came out the same week I bought one - managing 130mbps with a dedicated WiFi 6 router and it's really impressive but strawberry float, the strap in the box is horrendous. I don't much like the look of the Elite strap either because the principle is the same (it's strapped to your face), albeit slightly better counter balancing and comfort.

So I decided to buy this halo strap and it's perfect:

The plastic feels cheap, but it's really comfortable and as close as I can get to a Rift S halo strap.

Anyway, I've been playing Cosmodread and bought VR Skater yesterday, both great games I'd recommend anyone to buy.

Some footage I recorded of VR Skater if anyone is interested:

Nabbed the Oculus Store deal for all the Star Wars games last night because - let's face it- they were all on the buy list anyway! Got a discount for the one I already owned which is a decidedly unsketchy move for Darth Zuckerberg.
