Valve better be making more VR games. I want another Glados game using VR mechanics. I also want to bash things with a VR crowbar in HL3.

Also, I can't believe I only just realised that the logo of Gordon's arm holding a crowbar looks like the lambda symbol. :o

Sweet! Thanks!

Just got back upstairs to find I hadn't plugged one of the Index controllers in :fp:

Still, hopefully has enough juice for another hour or two.

Can't wait to get my eye test done tomorrow. Definitely going to treat myself to some VROptician prescription lenses :toot:

That's also how you reload a weapon in RE4 VR :shifty:

Tragic Zilnad getting VR has spurred me into using my Rift again for the first time in about a year.

Straight back into Alyx and it's as wonderful as I remember.

Also had a few round on BeatSabre and realised I'm even less fit than I was last year.

Then did a couple of races in Project Cars 2, which I've had for years but never really did the VR with it. Main issue I have is that it doesn't properly support my wheel so I ended up using an Xbox controller. It's still great without the wheel, but man would it be better with it. Might need to invest in a new wheel some point down the line.

Ordered my prescription lenses from VROptician today so I'm really excited for those to arrive and to try them out. Might see if I can get a few hours in on Alyx tomorrow morning but I'm off work on Monday so I'll definitely be playing another all dayer then.

You know how research shows that you're most excited about a new product just before purchase, during the unboxing and anything after that is rapidly diminishing returns? Not true with VR.

I'm going to bed tonight, still absolutely giddy like a child on Christmas Eve because I get to play more VR tomorrow.

Every day I'm just so excited to play it and the feeling of entering a game world in VR is as strong and thrilling every time as it was when I first got it. It's incredible.

I get that every time I play a racing game in it , which is usually every other night. Just putting the headset on for the first time and seeing the car all around you, the track stretching out in front of you, it's always amazing. Strangely I find the 3d effect wears off pretty quickly, not because it stops working or anything, but because you very quickly accept it as what you're really seeing.

UNLIKE 3D TV AMIRITE

When putting my headset on this afternoon I noticed a very slight scuff mark near the centre of the left lens :x Must've been caused by my spectacles but luckily I can't see any marks while I'm actually playing. Reading online and people seem to advise against using PolyWatch on the Index lenses so I'll have to leave it and hope my VRoptician lenses arrive this week. I'm a little upset but at least the mark is small and isn't visible in-game. My glasses must've slipped down while I was playing this morning. :( Definitely won't be wearing them with the headset again.

If you buy an Oculus Quest 2 on Amazon in the next week you get a £50 Amazon voucher. It's been on my list of things to get for a while, but didn't really plan on it now due to also buying a new TV and Mac Mini this month.

Does anyone have experience with using third party link cables? Huge difference between the one at the top of the Amazon search results (£19) and the official one (£90).

Just spent £60 on VR titles in the Steam sale. I wanted more but realistically it's going to take me an age to get through the ones I settled on.

Very happy

Walking Dead Saints & Sinners
Eleven Table Tennis
Accounting+
Skyrim VR
LA Noire
Batman Arkham VR

I know there are a lot better games that I haven't got yet but stuff like Arkham and LA I got because I want to try them and I know they're short so I can get them played quite quickly.

I've still got loads of other VR titles on my wishlist but these will do for now.

Honestly I think Alyx has been so incredible that I need to lower my expectations for everything else now.

Also got Night Call and Mini Metro/Motorways. They're not VR titles but I had to post for completeness.

It's like never watching an action movie and going straight to Terminator 2.

Arkham VR is great in a "once and done" kind of way. It'll take you about an hour or so to get through. It is very cool though.

Skyrim VR is also phenomenal for placing you in that world. Bows are OP as strawberry float though as you can essentially fire as fast as you want. Great fun.

Unrelated, I've been playing Fallout 4 VR and Project Cars 2 in VR a fair bit recently. Both of them are worth a look.

It's definitely recommend The Room VR as well.

I've poured many hours into Walking Dead and Eleven Table Tennis. Brilliant games! Enjoy :msgreen:.

I loved the mobile games so that is on my wishlist to get soon.

Just had an hour on Eleven Table Tennis and it's great. So immersive and I'm hoping as I get better it translates over to real life so I can walk into work one day and surprise everyone by beating them at lunch out of nowhere :datass:

Already had an accident though. Playing against a real player and I instinctively stretched to make a shot. Stretched much too far though and smacked the controller into a book shelf. It's still working perfectly and only suffered a scuffing along its edges but it's a valuable lesson to stay aware of my surroundings. Normally I'd be devastated that I'd scratched my kit but I'm just thankful nothing broke! :dread:

I've been finding a welcome mat in the middle of the room has been amazing for orienting myself but Table Tennis is so immersive it's still easy to forget I'm not completely surrounded by open space.

It was also such a strange feeling seeing a human opponent moving and clapping realistically. Even though it was only a headset and controllers moving around, the movements were human so it felt like I was really in a room with another person playing table tennis. It's so weird.

VR is amazing. Just need to watch out for that IRL shelf next time. :x

Just made a (sort of) spur of the moment decision to order a Quest 2. I was always planning to watch the offers over Black Friday, but even though the only deals were get a £50 voucher for the place you buy it, rather than actual price drops, I've gone and bought it anyway.

I think I'll be leaving it boxed up til Christmas, but now trying to get an idea of what I need to get while the sale is on today.

I got Pistol Whip despite owning it on PSVR. I've not played it yet and it seems like a game where a lack of cables would be very handy. Superhot VR is the other one I'm tempted to rebuy, but I can leave that for another sale.

Beat Saber and I Expect You to Die will be getting bought once I'm using it, but no rush as they're not in this sale.

Walkabout Mini Golf and Tales from The Galaxy's Edge are the two I'm looking at right now. VR mini golf seems like it could be a nice chilled experience, and although Galaxy's Edge doesn't have amazing reviews... it's Star Wars. Arkham VR is still one of my favourite VR things just due to how much it made me feel like I was in that that world.

I know I should probably be getting HL: Alyx, but I feel like that is one I'll leave for another sale too. Not sure I'm ready for such a long experience in VR just yet.
