I really hope so, Jawa.

This is what I was seeing after about half an hour of being fine. The audio was all pops and crackles as well.

But after unplugging and replugging the tether, I was able to play without any problems for an hour before getting ready for bed. So I'm just really hoping the tether wasn't quite plugged in fully or something.

Loading up Alyx still fills with me complete awe and amazement so I really hope there's nothing wrong with my headset.

Well Alyx has been absolutely fine for two hours this morning so hopefully it was just a blip.

Also I tried Propogation VR last night. That was really intense. Seems pretty damn decent for a free game.

Really hoping I can play through Arkham VR on Saturday morning.

It's a brilliant experience! I've tried it out PSVR and the sense of "being Batman" is so well done.

Arkham VR was the first thing I experienced in VR, and still think it's one of the best for immersion.

I know I said I'd keep the Quest 2 back for Christmas, but I felt a moral obligation to set it up last night so my referrer could get their credit as soon as possible :shifty:

Did the tutorial and then had a little go of Walkabout Mini Golf and Premium Bowling. Lack of wires is a game changer! Although on the flipside, much easier to lose my orientation. I had to reduce the guardian area as I realised it would let me walk way too close to walls/my tv and then flinging out an arm could have turned out very badly. Did punch a ceiling light when celebrating a birdie on mini golf but thankfully not too hard. The bowling seemed to need a fair bit of space too as when you re-adjusted things, it would put you quite far back from the lane. I was also way too good at it, probably due to the lack of weight compared to actual bowling (which I am bad at).

I did struggle a little with getting to sit in the sweet spot on my face for the clearest image, but I didn't bother fussing with the strap too much as I have a replacement coming from Amazon today (actually one that was recommended on here when I looked back through people's early impressions of their Quest 2s). I'll probably end up getting a case for it too. Going to try and just forget about for the next few weeks now and save the stuff like Pistol Whip and Beat Saber for Christmas.

Arkham VR

Woah, that was ruddy awesome! Very immersive and I enjoyed dancing in the mirror as Batman.

I'm really excited to go back and find all the Riddler stuff.

Obviously it's very short but it's so sweet. Wish they'd try making a full game of that. Even if it was an episodic kind of thing, flitting from scene to scene of an investigation.

Being Batman is amazing.

I'll never forget going down that lift into the Batcave.

Cities Skylines coming to Quest 2

Not gonna lie, I'm getting a bit annoyed at all these Quest exclusives. Feels like Oculus have decided they don't give a strawberry float about players on the Rifts.

Facebook are trying to force you to moving across to the quest line, they are killing off the Oculus brand and quietly pushing out the Rift from all the new stuff.

Oh that's clear. It's just a scummy strawberry floating move.

I feel worse for the Rift S owners who bought a headset that Oculus have now abandoned in just 2 years.

It's shite for owners of the original Quest as well, but obviously Rift users have been given the worst deal. Tying these exclusives to just the Quest 2 feels like you're being forced into upgrading what is an otherwise perfectly serviceable headset.

As great as the Quest has been, I definitely want to get myself out of the Facebook/Quest ecosystem in the near future.

This is my main issue. I wouldn't mind as much if it was a huge leap over the Rift (I'm on CV1), but it's a marginal improvement in terms of resolution and is actively less powerful than my PC. There's no reason they couldn't have had a PC port on the Oculus store beyond their own greed.

At least the Oculus store has removed the whole Facebook account requirement again haven't they? So using something like ReVive should still be an option for non-Quest owners?

Isn't Revive just for oculus PC store titles? It's no good for playing quest exclusive releases, I don't think.

Ohhh, I thought the Quest exclusive releases were via the Oculus store.

In that case.....that's utterly gooseberry fool.

Yeah the Quest is a stand-alone console type affair (I think it's android based), though certain games are crossbuy. In order to play Quest exclusives on PC they'd probably need to develop a Quest emulator that works with standard PC headsets.

I love the smell of new Index. Although I'm either getting used to it now or it's fading as I've stopped noticing it. :(

Having a bit of trouble using the link cable with the Quest 2. Couldn't get Steam VR to detect the headset at all. I had the Oculus app running, and toggled allowing content from unknown sources to on, as some people said that can stop it being detected.

Also realised my wired network speeds on the PC have gone awful and I don't know why. Was getting download speeds of about 5mb/s but my work laptop and Mac Mini which are all wired into the same switch get 35. Virtual Desktop 'works', but I didn't try to play anything. Not sure if the crappy speeds will fix it. I guess I should have tried transferring stuff between two computers and see how quick that was.

I wasn't a big fan of Superhot but Superhot VR is something else. So cool. I feel like an agent from The Matrix dodging all those bullets.

It really is amazing. The upgrade to the experience when I got the index controllers was something else.

I played Superhot VR on PSVR (need to re-buy it on Quest 2), and it's probably up there with Beat Saber as the best VR game. I think there are other things I love an experience in VR, like the previously mentioned Arkham VR, or Vacaction Simulator, but I'm not sure how often I'd go back to those.

Very excited to see a lot of people throw Pistol Whip up there with Superhot and Beat Saber when talking about the best VR games, as I've got that waiting to play over Christmas.
