If so, I hope you're not affected by the cost of living crisis, because it is rumoured to launch in the US with a $1,500 price tag :|.

Surely this takes it away from ~90% of the market?

The new device wasn't built for the general market, it's been marketed towards schools and workplaces and stuff.

I had totally missed this... a new Meta VR headset is launching in October! :o .

Yeah, it's gonna be expensive and, of course, launch during the economic crisis... so it sure is likely to be pretty niche. It'll probably be a cool bit of tech but the cost will keep the VR market pretty small. I suspect that PSVR 2 is gonna face a similar challenge.

I'm looking forward to hearing about your thoughts on the new system, Ob! :toot: .

This looks awesome. Can't wait to try it!

Oh wow, I had no idea this was coming. The weather has cooled enough now that I've been able to play a bit of Beat Saber and Pistol Whip this weekend. As much as my aching body would allow anyway. Seriously, I'm so unfit that a couple of two hour sessions have left my thighs and arms aching so much! Completed the Beat Saber campaign 100% though and am finally getting some A ranks on expert difficulty. But anyway, now that I'm back on my VR, I'm very excited to play this HL2 mod. I really wish Valve would make another HL VR game, Alyx is still the most incredible thing I've ever experienced.

Might finally start Walking Dead Saints & Sinners this week as I have a few days off work.

It's good to hear that the weather has eased off enough for you to jump back into VR, Zilnad! I'm hoping to get my PSVR set up again tomorrow.

I'm gonna set up the kit at my desk and so I can only play seated/minimal movement games. But, hey, I can rock Astro Bot and Moss :toot: . Oh, and Hitman, too, which I haven't tried yet!

Decided to boot up Beat Saber on PSVR as not played it for a bit over the weekend. The next two days there were two patches and after the first one I was playing online MP Beat Saber so is the game just still being actively supported?

Anyway, forgot how much fun this game is. Come out drenched in sweat like I've done a proper workout.

Just discovered an amazing mechanic in The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners! :o

The Index's in-built microphone picks up audio and the in-game zombies react to it! I've been alone this evening so whenever there was a blind spot in my explorations, I'd shout out "hey" (among other things) to check for any stragglers. It was so cool and immersive to see a zombie lumbering about to then shout out or whistle and have it turn its head and start clawing out for me.

It's a really cool game :D

It is a cool game and one I need to get back in to and finish. Been so long since I've played a VR game, in need of a sweaty Beat Saber session I think :slol:

As a fervent fan of VR for many years now, it's safe to say that my first hands-on experience with Sony's upcoming headset wowed my VR-loving socks off. This sleek and stylish unit was all I could have wanted for an upgraded PSVR headset and much, much more.

Click here to read/watch Eurogamer's massive test and preview of PSVR2. It sounds amazing... but I'm really starting to fear the pricing now!

The PSVR2 thread is pretty quiet so I'm re-posting here... PSVR2 has had some dang good previews published during this week and for VR fans it looks like this could be something special. Albeit probably expensive... we'll have to wait and see!

Even worse than Facebook's insistence on Quest 2 exclusive titles even though they can run fine on the original Quest.

Awful, anti-consumer decision making.

I mean it's bad, but it is in no way worse. At least with this there is some excuse. Astro Bot (and many other games) requires the use of the DS4 because it can be tracked via the light bar, but the Dual Sense can not be tracked. Even games that use the wands wouldn't be easily ported. Could this be addressed in some way and have it playable with the PS VR2 controllers? Yes, but there's tons more work involved in that compared to getting (some of) the Quest 2 exclusives to run on Quest 1.

But... Sony definitely should be throwing money at developers to get them to port as many of their PS VR games as possible to PS VR2.

Quest 3 details have leaked ahead of the Pro announcement, so looks like there'll be a more consumer price level unit next year. Looks like more external cameras, now in colour for passthrough to match the Pro and leaning into Facebook's desire to push mixed reality functions.
