It's literally like playing with a missing limb. That's how important it is and how much it adds to the immersion.

I'm glad I got mine before they started going for stupid money...

After reading about the upcoming Blood & Truth, seeing the first reviews of Everybody's Golf VR, thinking about No Man's Sky VR and then reading your thoughts, Cheeky... I've just pre-ordered the Moves from Amazon.

Delivery time? "Three months". I got my PSVR in December and I don't think Move controllers - nor the Move gun - have ever been in stock since that time. :| / :x / :fp: /  .

Can't wait to try this, VR is so much better when you're holding a pair of motion controls.

Sounds like they're implementing a bunch of little interactive details to help immerse the player too, I like the stuff they mention about being able to play around with car while you're inside.

Have you checked eBay or your local CEX?

I'm always amazed at how VR took tech that was widely derided and looked down on as a gimmicky and rubbish, but made it into one of the most immersive and effective parts of VR.

I HATE motion controls in most normal games. They're generally shite and have played their part in making me like some games less (Hello Skyward Sword). But in VR they make perfect sense. Being able to reach out and actually pick something up, to actually swing the sword in your hand or shoot off a bow as fast as you physically can elevates those experiences beyond what is possible with a simple controller.

To be honest, I am always wary of pre-owned controllers and i will only pick them up as a last resort. The way some folk treat their stuff can be quite surprising!

But... I checked and they're back in stock for delivery at Argos! I should get them later this afternoon :toot: .

More impulsive purchasing and I blame Cheeky Dev for this one :x .

When the Wii was unveiled I loved the concept of motion control but they tech was far too basic to be of any real use.

I think people dismissed PS Move as a Wii-too but the technology is far more advanced, the fact that it's still being used a decade on is testament to that.

Saying that, I'd love Sony to redesign Move next gen. Imagine if each PS5 comes bundled with a Dual Shock 5 that breaks apart to become 2 Move controllers that don't require a controller.

It'll be interesting to see whether PSVR on PS5 is simply for BC with PS4 games, or can be used for PS5 games (with a more expensive camera-less 4K version being made available too).

So did anyone here pick up a Quest? I'm massively tempted, but would like to hear the thoughts of one of the many pessimistic forumites we have here. If Reddit is to believed it's the second coming of Christ.

I'm not sure that's really the case, the technology is pretty basic and to be honest by modern standards you could probably say they are now 2 generations of tracked controller out of date.

On the Quest front I'm not really ready to say much yet.

I've set it up and played a few games. Vader Immortal is pretty much what people said it was, its not much of a game and I'm not really sure its a great story, but its definitely well worth a go if you get the chance and have any interest in Star Wars.

I've not really managed to get the fit right at the moment, there's quite a lot of light leakage around the nose and it is noticeably heavier (or less comfortable) than either Rift or PSVR. That might change a bit as I get used to it, difficult to say.

The tracking is amazing, pass through is very strange (apparently its better on Rift S). The screens themselves don't seem to be significantly better or worse than what I'm used to. I did notice a bit of slowdown in Vader, but it didn't bother me too much.

Jealous! Mine isn't even showing as dispatched yet although I had headphones and a carry case arrive so yeah, I guess that's something.

How does the light leakage compare to the Rift? I remember finding that quite noticeable at first around the nose but I forgot about it over time.

How are you finding the games visually? A major downgrade on a regular Rift?

To be honest its been a while since I played Rift, I can't remember it being as noticeable. But like I said I might just need to adjust the fit a bit more.

I've not really played anything that's going for realistic graphics other than I suppose Vader, which I obviously haven't played on Rift before.

If Vader is anything to go by as a high bar it'll be good enough for me, its obviously not amazing, but a game like that makes me wonder if Resident Evil 7 would be possible for Quest, it seems unlikely to come and maybe there are technical issues I'm not seeing, but from a graphical perspective what I saw in Vader wouldn't put a game like that out of the question.

I think a lot of the games will end up having a visual style which does a good job of hiding the limitations of the system though. Beat Saber for example unless I played back to back with another system I just don't think I'd really notice.

On the subject of Beat Saber, its pretty damn awesome...although it did mess up the controller tracking a couple of times in a 15 minute play session (when swapping them around quickly), it wasn't terrible, but the kind of thing people will definitely notice if it does turn out to be that frequent.

That sounds good, I'm mostly anticipating that I'll be using it for games with fairly limited graphics anyway - Beatsaber, Superhot etc.

I'm just excited to be free of wires and having to mess with configuring cameras, it's the main reason my standard Rift has been dormant for a while.

Its not really being pushed as a game.

I mean technically I suppose there are less gamey games out there. What's available is called Episode 1 and lasts about 45 minutes, you get to interact with switches, there's some climbing and you do get a lightsaber which you use a bit (there's also a wave based lightsaber training room which is separate from the story). But its mostly just moving around an environment watching a story unfold.

Obviously it doesn't really look like that on Quest (its coming to Rift later in the year).

I'll probably wait till all 3 are out so I can have a good evening playing them back to back.

Vader is everything people want in a star wars lightsabre game. Being able to plod around my space is really freeing. Don't think I could do it being tethered anymore. The quest comes with a journey of the gods demo preloaded and should be the first port of call for everyone.

Just used the Move controllers with my PSVR for the first time.

Wow! They really do bring another dimension to gaming. I've used them with:

> Batman Arkham VR - . It's an incredible sensation! The way that you pick things up and put on the suit is genuinely astonishing.

> Rez Infinite - It's wonderful to just look / point and shoot; it really adds to the experience.

Unfortunately my gaming setup doesn't have much - hardly any - space around it and so I can't use the Move controllers properly, though. I'm going to have to consider setting it up in my living room but that will be some time off as I need a new TV and stuff before I can play my PS4 there.

But, anyhow... PSVR + Move is amazing :toot: .

Didn't like it myself. The god part seems pointless and the main part of it just seemed a bit empty.

I think all the demos up are preloaded by the way, you just have to go and 'purchase' them from the store. Sports Scramble is bizarre and Creed was actually better than I was expecting it to be, not sure I'll bother with either of them though.

Personal favourites at the moment are probably Space Pirate Trainer and Superhot VR, I played Superhot before on PSVR, it definitely benefits from having more space to play in, but also just better tracking on the controllers than is possible with the Move controllers.

Hopefully my Quest will arrive tomorrow. Has anybody tried Apex Construct? And if so, is it any good? I'm not sure if there is a demo of it, but i have heard a few good things about it, but then i remember someone criticizing archery type games on Quest due to having to draw your hand behind the headset.
Basically, i was wondering what game to pick up first for it. I think i have all the games that are also available on PSVR except for Pirate Trainer and Beat Saber.

So my Quest turned up today. 1 dead pixel but other than that it seems great. Thought I would tool around in rec room later (never played it before). If anyone fancies a game tonight then let me know!
Oh, and feel free to add me to Oculus friends list, my name is Kazanova1980.
If anyone else here wants me to add them then please post your username. I have just picked up Beat Saber, so any friendly score comparisons on the leaderboards would be great!
