What is it? Do you just rock in the direction that you want to move or something? Sounds like it will increase the feeling of detachment from the experience more than anything!

Oh god Time Crisis. Some of the greatest videogame music ever, IMO. Got it for my 19th birthday; it was an absolute sensation at uni.

Yeah there's loads of games that are very much like the old light-gun games.

Reminds me that I need to go back to Robo Recall. :D

A new Sony patent reveals plans for PS5 VR

That's because a new patent, published on April 4, 2019, and belonging to Sony Interactive Entertainment Inc. Tokyo, has revealed technology designed for a brand-new PlayStation VR headset that includes an integrated eye tracker and delivers super powerful new "foveated rendering" graphics
If you're unfamiliar with the term "foveated rendering", simply put, it's something that gamers should be very excited about. In a nutshell, by using a virtual reality headset with an integrated eye tracker, this technology will allow areas of a virtual world a gamer is not looking at to be rendered at a lower level of graphical quality.

A couple of PSVR games have got very decent reviews from Pushsquare.

Falcon Age: https://www.pushsquare.com/reviews/ps4/falcon_age

Ghost Giant (a ‘masterpiece’, apparently): https://www.pushsquare.com/reviews/ps4/ghost_giant

Yeah me too. My Oculus has seen a wee break as well.

No particular reason, I've just been playing other things at the moment.

But Falcon Age looks good and there and the London Heist game (Blood and Gold?) should be out soon, so I'm looking forward to that. :D

I'm guessing this is for Backwards Compatibility.

PS5 VR games will likely need a new "PSVR 2" which will be wireless and have new controllers.

Quite possibly. Personally I'm hoping for older PSVR games to get a visual boost to go with the increased power.

XTAL VR might just be the best VR headset in the world. Billed as a high resolution headset 'for professionals.' It's for business that require high level immersive training and not aimed at the PSVR-owning riff-raff. It's fascinating because it offers a much higher level of VR and further demonstrates the potential of it. Using XTAL to play The Elder Scrolls VI, I'm up for that.

Owning 3 VR headsets already (PSVR, Rift and Daydream) I wasn't expecting to want another one any time soon. But looking at the Quest its so close to being the whole package I'm actually quite surprised that I think if it was just a little bit better than what I've seen I'd be really tempted.

Obviously the chipset holds it back somewhat from giving the best experience, but from reading and listening to previews the thing that actually puts me off is the tracking not quite being there. What I'm used to with the Oculus (and a 3 camera setup) is pretty much perfect tracking of those controllers, the fact you can now pretty easily lose tracking behind yourself or above your head doesn't sound great.

I'm hoping they do well enough (or just are planning) to do regular iterations on the Quest, in a couple of years a more powerful mobile chipset and better inside out tracking could make it the best VR experience out there.

Picked up a PSVR with a couple of Move controllers and a copy of Astro Bot.

I’ve been obsessed with VR for years now, but found it difficult justifying the cost. I picked up Labo VR a couple of weeks back and decided to finally take the plunge with VR. So far I’ve had a quick go of a Playroom mini game, the (dull) demo for Last Guardian VR and a game of Rocket League in the cinema mode. I’m quite impressed so far, though the blurry visuals are a tad disappointing. Sure I’ll get over it! Can’t wait to have a shot of Astro Bot later. I’ve heard great things.

Any recommendations game-wise?

There are really too many. We need to have a go-to list of must haves we can post.

But glad to have you aboard man. VR is genuinely the most exciting development in games in decades and has the most potential to totally change everything.

With that hyperbole out the way I'd recommend the following.

Tetris Effect
Astro-Bot
Rez (In before Hugo)
Beat Saber
Skyrim VR
Wipeout
VR Worlds (It's a great "Here try out this" game for showing friends and family)
Superhot VR
Star Wars Battlefront (2015): VR Mission
Statik
I Expect You To Die
Job Simulator
Moss

I've forgotten some as well. But there's plenty to get your teeth into.

Falcon Age is meant to be pretty decent and Blood and Truth is out soon as well.

Congrats on entering the world of VR, T-a!

I'd suggest Ocean Dive (part of PlayStation Worlds) and, definitely, the lovely Astro Bot! Skyrim VR is mightily impressive (albeit it takes some getting used to) as well.
