I wish it had been that simple but I don't think it's that. I even keep my blinds closed when I play VR so the room around me is usually dark.

I'm sure it's just going to be one of those weird technical niggles you sometimes get with a PC. It's just finding the specific fix that is the pain but I'll get there.

I could bin off LA Noire but I have to solve the problem on principal otherwise it'll be bothering me forever or could come up again with other games.

I might even be tempted to getting full price Super Hot in the next few days too as I love it so much on PSVR, but after playing with no wires on Quest, I think I'll find it quite hard to go back to PSVR for anything that involves more than just being sat still the whole time.

Super Hot is the deal of the day! Got a few Beat Saber music packs too. I’ve spent so much, and that’s not even including my £23 credit. I should be good for a long, long time now though.

Got a £20 Steam voucher from my in-laws today so that'll definitely be going towards another VR game or two. Spoilt for choice in the current sale.

Fiddled around a bit more this afternoon and managed to get rid of the grey screen issue. I think trying yet another USB port was what did it. However, after about half an hour of perfect LA Noire, it started stuttering in a way where I wasn't sure if it was dropping frames or losing tracking or what. No grey screen but it eventually crashed to the "limbo" mountain screen between SteamVR Home and the game and I had to quit out. Tinkered with it a lot more. Checked that frame report thing a few times in Steam VR but couldn't see any spikes of note during the crashes. No improvements. Kept tinkering, updating drivers, changing settings, etc, etc. And now the grey screen issue has come back and I don't know why.

As a last attempt before giving up, I've finally mounted the base stations up high, just in case the solution is actually that simple.

I'll try it again tomorrow morning but I'm not very optimistic. If it's still a problem tomorrow I'll just shelve LA Noire and keep my fingers crossed I don't have the same problem with anymore games.

Thrill of the Fight is exhausting. Part of it was down to me being way too wild with my punches, which I didn't need to be after seeing the score card at the end, but during the fight it didn't feel like that much movement. It was only after stopping that I realised how knackered I was.

Pistol Whip is just as good as I'd hoped, and up there with Super Hot and Beat Saber as games I just can't see myself getting bored of. Not really got the shooting to the music bit down yet, but still makes you feel like a bad-ass.

Pistol Whip does make you feel incredibly cool. There are some levels where the music and atmosphere totally draw you in to the zone and you start to honestly believe you might be John Wick.

Just don't play without the aim assist, otherwise you'll very quickly remember you're not actually cool at all  I speak from experience...

I might pick up Pistol Whip with my Christmas voucher. It does look and sound incredibly cool. Superhot VR is amazing for making you feel like an action God.

Regarding my current issues, I think I'm looking at a motherboard issue with the USB ports. Just looking into making sure the BIOS is updated in the hope that that'll fix it. Otherwise I might order a PCI-E expansion as that would probably work.

I don't want to jinx myself but I think a BIOS update has completely fixed all my VR issues!!!!

:msgreen: :msgreen: :msgreen:

Just played the LA Noire case that was unplayable earlier without a single hitch. I couldn't even force a grey screen by covering my headset with my hands.

I'm so, so happy! I'm so excited! Makes me want to play Alyx for a third time to experience it completely, utterly smooth but I'm going to play my other stuff first.

Really looking forward to Walking Dead S&S now as my brain has actually started to get used to normal movement, so long as I have it slow and step on the spot.

Oh man, I can't describe how relieved and happy I am to have fixed this niggling issue. I'm bouncing

Tries this Halo strap replacement from Amazon and I don't know if I'm doing it wrong, but the back just slides up my head and the quest then slides down off my face. Think I'll try the official Elite strap, and maybe a replacement face guard bit.

Is there a reference for the Oculus VR I see people post about it. How does it work?

I'm planning on ordering one tonight or tomorrow, PM if anyone wants me to use their reference.

You don't need to do it before ordering.

You need to become FB friends with the person, then they can send you a referral link, which you click on before activating your Quest. You get £23 credit pretty much immediately, and the other person gets it within 30 days I think. If nobody else offers, I can send you a referral link, although I got some credit recently from being referred myself, so if anyone else wants to do it, please go ahead.

I bought the Elite Strap + Battery today and it's made a big difference to the comfort levels for me. A pretty expensive upgrade, but the third party strap I got from Amazon wasn't doing it for me at all.

Fantastic thanks for the info. I'll be going to try and pick one up tomorrow, so I'll happily use someone's referral link. I'll check again tomorrow and DM you :)

Will pick up that elite head strap too.

I don't mind recommending you either. I'm another Occulus user. :msgreen:

Any opinions on End Space? Looks quite fun and it's 50% off...

My Quest 2 is ten months old and the controllers have only just got to below 10% battery on their included AA batteries. That is phenomenal performance.

Yep, mine lasted a good 7 months i think. Even then I only got the low battery warning, they never actually died. Incredible given the strength and frequency of the vibration on many games.

Just ‘finished’ Pistol Whip. It’s so good, and Smoke and Thunder felt like a step up from what he already been a very, very good game. Or perhaps it just had the most enjoyable music which is a pretty big part of the experience.

Still can’t get Oculus Link to work. I’ve got a USB3 cable, and when plugged in the Oculus PC app sees my headset, I can do the USB test which gives me 2.3Gbps, but if I try and start link I just get notifications in the app that Oculus isn’t working correctly. It says to click for their support article but that’s all about the rift and connects very differently from the sound of it. SteamVR also won’t see the headset.

I’ll buy another cable but from the USB test that doesn’t seem the issue. What cables does everyone use?

I think mine is a Belkin one. Can you connect wirelessly or does the initial connection have to be wired? Do you get the allow access to files notification? You would think you're supposed to click allow but you should actually deny.
