Dangoneompa
Resi 7
GT Sport
Until Dawn rush of blood
VR Worlds

I know I keep banging on about it but get Tumble as it's a great puzzle game and was just £7 at launch so is most likely even cheaper now. It was the best £7 I ever spent  .

+1 for Tumble being great.

The main thing is would say is to go through PSN and download every bit of free VR content you can find. There's loads of good, varied stuff out there. Also get the two Demo "Discs" from there as well as there's some good ones in them.

Quick tip, you'll have to manually search to find some VR stuff on the store, as just going into the VR category doesn't show everything. What I did was go here: https://store.playstation.com/en-gb/gri ... IONVRHUB/1 and look for anything that wasn't showing on my PS4, then search for it manually.

So after a few hours of playing, here are some of my thoughs

PS VR Worlds
Just done the speed run thing lying down which I wasn’t fond of but the shark attack was breathtaking .
The one in space was good until I started to be on land moving around, made me fill slightly queasy after a while

The Playroom VR
Fun games for free, really enjoyable

GT Sport
Alright, wish there were more cars

Kitchen
Shows me what Resi 7 will be like, wasn’t jumpy imo. Onto Resi I guess

Wipeout
Totally unplayable for me, loved the look but one lap and I felt sick

Danganrompa
Needs to have a full game on VR, really fun demo

Star Wars Battlefront DLC VR
Simply amazing, why can’t EA do more with this in single player

Obviously Rez Infinite gets my vote as the must play VR game...but I may be a bit biased.

Skyrim VR is on sale for £15 for PS+ subscribers till the 25th, at that price its well worth it even if you've played it loads before.

I really enjoyed Doom VFR, its a shortish game, but it works surprising well and at the price its worth it.

Tumble VR is definitely worth it, as is Thumper and Statik. But they've all been on sale before so it might be worth waiting for them to be cheap again.

If you can, its definitely worth buying Farpoint with the AIM Controller if you can get a hold of it. Its not a great shooter on its own, but the controller totally makes the game.

Just played the heist, that was impressive

Do people leave all their plugs and cables plugged in? Lots of hassle to unplug everything

Might be interested in Rez but not £25. Is Skyrim that much more impressive in VR? One side of me thinks I would love it but I’ve played 3 versions of this game now :D

All VR games should come with demos just so you know if you can handle them or not

The Skyrim VR graphics are significantly downgraded from the standard edition, the motion also made me unwell until I took anti-sickness tabs. But the immersion is impressive! After playing about three to fours hours in VR, going into a dungeon with skeletons, going to one of the early missions with the tower in icy mountains it's great. Then switching back to standard version a couple of days later felt so flat and distant. It's also so weird having the characters stand just in front of you and look directly into your eyes.

Went back to PSVR last night. What a clusterfuck of a mess all of the cables are, and trying to charge the Move controllers alongside the DS4 and having the PSVR unit plugged in - good luck! :dread: Is there a simple(r) solution for this?

As for the games I played...

Here They Lie
This is just a blurry mess. Nice idea, but the doesn't really work given the hardware. Movement direction being controlled by your head is just awkward as well.

Allumette
Seemed very charming, this. Guessing there's little to no interaction in the full version, but I'd be tempted to get it when the price is right.

Rez
I like Rez, but couldn't really see the benefit to it being in VR. Just got annoying aiming with my head.

Thumper
This was more like it - far more engaging than Rez and enjoyable.

For me Skyrim VR is the definitive version of the game. Graphically it does take a hit, but the immersion more than makes up for it to the point where I barely notice it anymore. Presumably the PC version isn't as badly hit.
It's got loads of control and nausea options too so there will be a setting that works for you somewhere if your prone to it.

I watch Ian Higton a lot and he plays a lot of VR games but he's now immune to any motion sickness, I presume it just takes time to over come. He gets really annoyed when a VR game forces him to teleport.

Skyrim VR dungeons have been some of the most immersive experiences for me since owning PSVR from launch day. It's just so creepy when a skeleton comes out of a coffin etc.

I think you should stick to VR at home, taking it to the pub might look a bit weird.

Yeah, get one of these for £17.99 from Amazon (Game outlet). https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-PlayStati ... B004477IZA

Word of warning, they are second hand if the ones I got are anything to go by. I sent first one back cos box was tatty and received a slightly less tatty replacement. The charging unit is fine though and I’ve had it about a month now with no issues. Uses mains power to charge.

My PSVR recommendations are:
- Batman Arkham VR (short but a great representation of being ‘the Bat’)

- Until Dawn Rush of Blood. This was free on Ps+ a while back so you hopefully secured it then like i did long before a got my VR. Nothing like Until Dawn. More Time Crisis. With mad bastards. On a rollercoaster /mine cart ride. Good fun

- Statik. I’ve only done a handful of levels but it’s a good challenge and premise.

- ‘Kitchen’ demo is good but I can’t see me sticking Resi 7 in VR so haven’t tried that. Too much of a wuss these days

- Playroom VR. Free and some fun games especially if you have kids 5-10 like me.

- Driveclub VR. A full game just like Driveclub with new cars and tracks and starting all over again from level 1 so even if you plat’d Driveclub, this is a stand-alone experience.

- Doom VFR. Only recently started this. Looks great but am finding movement a bit fiddly at the moment

- The Heist (part of PS VR Worlds). Imagine Lock, Stock & 2 Smoking Barrels in VR. #cockney gangstas innit?

I’ve also got Thumper but ain’t feeling any love for that I’ll be honest.

Would love Skyrim but am 150hrs into the Switch version and still nowhere finishing that so pointless buying another version just yet. Plus can’t really see me being able to play 150/200 hrs in VR in less than 12 months minimum!

I'm quite happy with my Google Daydream headset. Bought Rez and will give some of the available demos for other VR games a try too. Also popped a film on my phone, installed Skybox and "sat" in a virtual cinema watching IT with some headphones on.

I was looking at this the other day. I understand it's not as techy as the big-money options, but I'm skint.

Overall, then, you'd say it's worth the money? £50 at the moment, I think. I have a Pixel 2 so my phone should be up to it.

These things are a good entry point to VR. I don't know if the Google one has it, but the gear vr is obviously lacking positional tracking, so leaning forward and back , up and down isn't replicated in game which is one of the biggest differences between it and proper vr headsets. So you couldn't duck and look under a desk for example. They're great to see what it's about though. My free gear vr eventually led to me spanking thousands on my pc and Vive so watch out ;)
