I tried ALVR last night on quest and it worked surprisingly well. Tracking my head and body movement was spot on but the controllers were a little off. It would track the start point and end point fine but the inbetween wasn't constantly tracked as it should be. It's free and alpha software and the quest has been out a little over two weeks. Give it a month or two and we will have near perfect PC games running wirelessly on it and at high resolutions too.

I had a message pop on my phone earlier informing me you have beaten my Beat Saber score. If I had my Quest at the moment it would have been enough to spur me on and flail around for an hour on the warmest say of the year. Alas I don't and so I couldn't. But it's cool that it pushes notifications of this nature.

Been playing Superhot VR (PSVR) for the first time. I think it was a mistake playing this before the regular game, as I can't imagine it without the motion tracking now Although I've been having quite a bit of trouble with the tracking of the move controllers. Throwing things is very hit and miss, but at least dying and starting over is quick, and it's so much fun, don't mind having to go through multiple attempts.

There are so many moments where it makes you feel like a complete bad-ass. Very different experience to Batman VR, but up there with it as my favourite games.

Superhot on PSVR gets a lot of flak for it's tracking, but I found that once I had the camera mounted high enough it actually had a lot less issues than many of the other Move games. The throwing is certainly screwy, but once you understand the motion it is looking for it is quite manageable most of the time.

I'm a couple of hours into Deracine and really enjoying the vibe of it. If the walking sim / light puzzler genre is for you then I strongly recommend it at the sale price.
It's almost worth it for seeing that Bloodborne font tbh.

I had pretty much the same experience with Superhot on PSVR. Throwing was generally a recipe for disaster for me, but it didn't detract from the fun I had with the game. Right up there as one of my favourite experiences on PSVR.

More recently I've been playing Farpoint, Doom and Creed. Farpoint was good and had a more interesting story than I'd expected. Doom was basically what you'd want from Doom in VR. Creed left me a sweaty mess, but again it was a fairly decent VR boxing experience.

I really hope they port Gorn to PSVR at some point. You guys would love it.

If possible Quest owners should get on that as well. Great, ultra-violent cartoony Gladiator game.

Pretty sure they announced it for both a week or so before Quest launched.

EDIT: Yeah it sort of was. https://www.reddit.com/r/OculusQuest/co ... confirmed/

Excellent.

It's well worth picking up. Pretty sure there's footage of me streaming it and laughing like a maniac as I impaled a guy on a wall of wooden spikes. It's ridiculously good fun.

New PSVR game Blood & Truth is the first VR game to hit the number 1 spot in the UK physical sales charts beating FIFA!

Big budget PS4 VR exclusive Blood & Truth is the best-selling game of the week at UK physical retail. Excluding digital sales (more on that later in the week), the PSVR title beat FIFA 19 to No.1 by just 400 copies. FIFA enjoyed a boost in sales this week, boosted -- no doubt -- by the all-English Champions League final. Blood & Truth is the first VR game to achieve such a feat, and it could well be the second VR hit from Sony's London Studio. The first game, PlayStation VR Worlds, has been packed in with the PSVR headset, and is by far the best-selling VR game in the UK.

You will be the one left crying when you want to go to the pub to socialise and meet people in person, but there will be nobody there because everyone will be living in VR world.

From what I've seen of Blood and Truth, it seems to be a very polished and impressive kinda-on-rails-but-also-not shooter, with some cool gun customisation and collectibles. Looks good fun.

Is it a modern Time Crisis type game. Ie on rails against the clock?

Yeah seems very similar, although not necessarily always against the clock and you can choose which bit of cover you hide behind, with the game moving your character to each bit automatically, so you just control your weapons and the "duck" mechanic.

You choose to move your character between cover points so there's a bit more control, don't think its timed either.

I read some advice on here (I think) that throwing is far better by ‘pushing’ rather than going through a ‘chucking a ball over-arm’ technique. It really is. Best way to describe is holding the trigger on the Move and sliding your arm towards the target whilst releasing trigger, kind of like pushing a pint across a table to the person opposite you.

Yeah, this worked great for me. Slightly unnatural at first but I quickly got used to it.
