More info about the Valve Index from the accidental posting of a product page on the Steam website.
It will ship on the 15th June. Cameras for inside-out tracking. Integrated headphones. Will connect to PC using Display Port 1.2 and USB 3.0. As the Display Port can pass more data than HDMI it suggest it will runner at a higher resolution with a higher refresh rate. Minimum graphics card Nvidia 970 AMD RX 480 Recommended graphics card Nvidia GTX 1070 Valve Index Controllers (formerly 'knuckles' controllers) are available to buy separately. Additional base stations available to buy separately.
KitGuru reports Redditors' speculation on the spec:
The angular design also hints at a much wider FOV compared to current-gen headsets, as the outward kinks line up with where the large lenses would be... Some Redditors think they’ve figured out quite a bit about this headset already. Chances are, it will have dual Fresnel lenses, which are improved to directly tackle foveated rendering, god rays and the screen door effect. Beyond that, it seems likely that the display will be 1440×1600 at 90Hz.
Teaser photo is probably from the bottom of the headset.
If the reviews are good and it comes in at £800 or below I will get it. The main reason I didn't get the Vive was due to the dithering they were doing with the updated hardware and the reason I will never get a Rift is Facebook.
Started with PlayStation World's and tried the sea diving. The Shark stuff was genuinely tense, I liked that really cool. I then tried the weird ball hitty thing, the game like but not like pong, was pretty cool too. Then tried the streat boarding down hill game and again thought it was cool. It's really fun. The sea bit was the best of the 3 the fish seemed like they were by you at the start and that you could reach out to them.
But while it was fun it paled in comparison to the half hour I spent on Astro Bot, my god that is strawberry floating ace, like truly amazing. I loved playing it, little things were so strawberry floating cool, like leaning forward and looking around a wall, or leaning down to look under some platforms. Everyone NEEDS to play it, it's a strawberry floating marvel.

Really gled that you're enjoying your steps into VR, Pedz! I feel that non-VR people genuinely don't realise - quite understandably - just how impressive Astrobot is; personally I'd rank the experience towards the top of those that I've had in videogaming.
Hmm...of course I don't have the connection with Polybius that I do with Rez, I'm not saying its not good...but if you had to choose between them? I mean its not really a choice is it.
Also I think Polybius will go on sale for quite a bit cheaper than it currently is at some point, buying a copy of Rez on sale is always a good idea.

Just in case you change your mind (or when you do have money to spend)
Do you have a copy of the first DICE Star Wars Battlefront on PS4? If not you can pick it up 2nd hand for a few pounds normally (think its available new from TheGameCollection for £4 at the moment too), its a must have to play the XWing VR Mission which is free DLC.
Your 3dRudder grants you full motion control: speed-up, slow down, stop exactly when you choose to. Your hands can finally focus on shooting, looting, hitting just like they would in real life. You are fully immersed in a new, thrilling virtual experience. You run the game.
It seems quite costly at £119 and, as an add-on for an add-on, I'd imagine it could have a fairly niche audience. Even so, perhaps it'll deliver a cool new way of enabling movement in VR games?
25+ compatible games at launch Ultimately, 3dRudder is all about offering a new, thrilling experience to PSVR players. We are happy to confirm 25 PS VR games will support 3dRudder at launch:
Immortal Legacy: The Jade Cypher Undead Citadel Sairento VR Ultrawings VR Bow to Blood Pirate Flight DWVR The Wizards-Enhanced edition Red Matter Operation Warcade Beat Blaster Honor and Duty : D-Day Honor and Duty : Arcade Edition Nature Treks Mind Labyrinth Scraper VR Affected : The Manor Telefrag VR TrainerVR Proze Darkness Roller Coaster Vertigo-Home Contagion VR Shadow Legend Blind
It seems that the product is made by the 3DRudder company rather than being a Sony product; it has been available for PC VR for some time now (around two years, I think). Reviews seem to vary, with some folk finding it to be a great tool for movement in games whilst others have found it to be rather clumsy.
I'd imagine that games like Skyrim and Doom could benefit from the device but, as with any game, it'll need the developer to patch in support code.
