With the steam sale currently on, I finally picked up a few VR games I've had on my wishlist for a long time:

IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad - I loved this on the ps3, and VRplus HOTAS should be amazing

Overload - basically Descent in VR, by the original creator of descent :datass:

VR Dungeon Knight - A VR dungeon crawler rpg

My new prescription lenses from VROptician arrived yesterday (Oculus Quest, £65 delivered from Germany). Unfortunately it’s way too hot to be putting a bucket on my head, but hopefully I will be able to give them a go sometime over the weekend.

Anyone picked up that Phantom Ops Kayaking game? It looks absurd, but I can see how the control scheme could be really immersive. Seems to be getting middling reviews (short campaign being the main knock against it).

The Room is only a fiver off, sadly, not a surprise given how new a release it is. I think I'd rather own it native on the Quest, just for the ability to play it without needing to be tethered to the PC, but I doubt there's much of a sale coming on the Quest store any time soon.

Have you tried it Dungeon Knight? I'm looking for some VR titles to add to my library.

If you or anyone else has other recommendations, they would be welcome. I'm looking at getting The Mage's Tale - has anyone tried it?

Half Life Alyx might be one of the most immersive single player experiences I've ever played. GOD DAMN THIS IS GOOD.

I've not tried dungeon knight yet. I'll probably give it a go once I've finished xenoblade. I did install it though so it was ready, and it was only a 2 gig download which was refreshing in these days of massive file sizes.

I played a bit of IL2 and DCS in VR with my hotas yesterday. It's so good, just so immersive and I find it relaxing just flying about the place really. I got my wife to have a go on DCS and to my surprise she really enjoyed it too, asking if I can get a flight SIM where she can fly to Mexico

Yeah, this will be the next game i pick up for the Quest. It looks really good. Loved the mobile games.
I still have not played Pistol Whip (which i bought a few weeks ago). Now the weather is cooler and i have my lenses i think i might give it a go.

Wow, Pistol Whip really is as good as everyone says. But now my back hurts. Anyone else playing on Quest? Would be good to have some more friends to compete against on the leaderboards.

Bought Budget Cuts 2 and Pavlov in the steam sale. Holy gooseberry fool Pavlov is fun, but it's so strawberry floating hard!

So I decided to try out TTT in pavlov because I love it in GMOD and it's amazing.

Some traitor walks up to me and says, look just take this and gives me all his guns claiming he wants to end his own life and then just shoots himself in the face.

My daughter's been saving for a VR headset, and it's her birthday this week. She's done her research and thinks the Oculus Quest is the way to go, so she can play wirelessly as well as connected to my pc. I've managed to order one this morning, to pick up from Argos later in the week.

Are we making the right choice? Will playing Alyx be as good as on a Rift S?

I believe there's a way to stream pc games wirelessly now, or we can use a usb cable?

Also looking for game recommendations. Especially free games or demos.

There's rumours going around that the new Quest will be revealed this September, so while I think the current Quest is an outstanding headset, it may well be worth holding off until then.

I really enjoyed playing Alyx on the Quest through virtual desktop, but I have read others have had issues. You need to be able to do everything you can to minimise lag, so PC connected by ethernet to a 5ghz router in the same room you'll be playing in its pretty much required. Can't comment on the quality of Link for weird connection direct to the PC.

I saw reviews of Alyx who did tests between running Alyx on a Rift and on Quest with both VD/Link and it seems quest with VD seems the best option.

I've had no issues with it at all and it looks beautiful.

I wouldn't be surprised if they drop the Rift S altogether with how popular the Quest has proven. And using a link cable I think the Quest is pretty much no different to the Rift S.

Well we bit the bullet on the Quest, and we're blown away by how cool VR is! I have to say, playing Steam VR games wirelessly is fantastic, so I think the Quest is the definate best choice at the moment. It works so well too. I have my laptop wired to the router, and the Quest in the same room, on 5gz WiFi. It's been flawless.

Played Half Life Alyx, The Lab, Beat Saber demo (will get the full game soon), and a few other games and demos. It's a game changer!

Climbey is a fun little game, it does make me queasy at times due to the height.

So I got a Quest the other day and have been playing Beat Saber 'til I hurt. Really impressed by how I can turn it into my own personal cinema. Looks like I'll have to get a new PC to do anything serious with it though but I can sort that soon.

Any day one recommendations?
