Hopefully they’ve taken on board the criticisms of the first season. There’s a great show in here but it needs work and they need to tone down some of the sleazier aspects of the show(IMHO of course) for it to really work.

I think the sleazier aspects just play into the dystopian angle. The world is inherently strawberry floated up and sexual and a dystopian future essentially leads to sex being one of the only aspects of oneself you have control over. I don't mind it and I'm looking forward to S2!

It was more the regular lingering shots of dead prostitutes that I wasn’t a massive fan of - didn’t really come across as playing to the narrative, more as the director trying to get as many shots of dead prostitutes on the screen as possible. :slol:

I’m not quite as angry about that sort of thing as Taf is/was but I’d be lying if I said it was good for the show.

Like, sexual exploitation has always been part of that dystopic, cyberpunk landscape but there needs to be criticism or analysis of the reasons why it’s so prevalent. Otherwise it just looks like, well, sexual exploitation I guess.

I'm glad this is coming back! I just haven't got time for mediocre cheaply made TV but this was good. A future sci-fi show that looked good and had great scale with events taking place on Earth and in space. Some great ideas about AI and who the self is, the body and storing your personality to the cloud that requires maybe some tech-literacy and the whole religious questions related to it all. I can't remember the details of every episode now but the violence and sleaziness was to show that this wasn't a sci-fi paradise but a gritty and real world. I might actually watch S1 again and I very rarely watch any TV again.

No season 3 then, just read it's been cancelled.

I watched the first couple of episodes of season 2 and couldn't get in to it for some reason. I think i had forgotten who everyone was, coupled with the fact that several people had now played musical chairs with their "sleeves". Interesting but, like The Dark, completely impenetrable to me (no context says hello).

I really enjoyed the first series, and the anime spin-off/prequel thing as well, but for me Joel Kinnaman was the main character, and without him in season 2, I had no interest in it.

I really enjoyed all of this, im really sad it's been cancelled.

This has put me off starting season 2, and I never thought I'd say that about Joel Kinnaman :lol:
