Yes but only stuff that can fit into a DeLorean.

Okay. That includes a mobile phone. I'd film the key moments from the final days of Jesus' life, including his death and whatever happened to him after it.
Whether you believe he was the Messiah or not, video proof one way or the other would prevent a lot of wars.

I think you’re underestimating just how much religious people will deny reality. It’d be pretty easy for them to just say “that’s fake footage”.

Plus the thread is about what you’d change, not what you’d film for a modern audience. ;)

I wouldn't film it for a modern audience. I'd show it to the people who were around at the time of Christ. They all know what Jesus looks like so will be pretty impossible to say it was faked.

If it doesn't count, then I would change history by making the Treaty of Versailles be a lot kinder to the Germans

I would go back in time and tell the British forces that George Washington was crossing the Delaware so he'd be crushed and the US would stay under British control. That or get George III to give the US colonies representation in the houses of parliament. Mainly because I would want to see what happened as the US's influence grow as the population grew and they because the more powerful part of the Union.

EDIT: there is such a large amount of history that is totally unknown to us, I'd like to play with that. When Persia was at war with Greece, Persia was fighting another war with an opponent we know literally nothing about. I'm sure I could so something with that.

Or what about stopping Genghis Khan dying when he did so Batu Khan continued his invasion of Europe.

3. Prevent the assassination of Gaius Julius Caesar, allowing him to bring the rest of Europe and the Caucasus region under Roman rule.

2. Expose the entire Culper Ring of spies during the American War of Independence. Without eyes behind enemy lines, the rebels are blinded. Without the ability to interfere with British naval communications, Yorktown becomes another British victory, and the war carries on.

1. Send the Duke of Wellington to America during the War of 1812. With his expert generalship, Britain stands a chance of winning.

The Duke gets killed in America, Napoleon wins the peninsula war and Britain and the British Empire become part of the French Empire for the next 600 years.

But you stopped Brexit so I’ll give your scenario 8/10.

I would go back 300,000 years to Africa and take the place of Y-chromosomal Adam. Not only would I get some hot stone age action, but I would also be your great great great etc grandfather so you better damn well respect your old grandpa.

Alarmingly so. :slol:

Another couple...

1. Introduce European diseases to the Americas via the Viking settlement at Vinland. Population crash is followed by recovery, immune systems learn to cope, and when the Spanish, Portuguese, English and French arrive, they are not confronted by disease-emptied continents or diminished tribes, but by strong, healthy nations.

2. Let the Vikings explore down the North American coast, establishing settlements and introducing metalworking and other crafts to the continent. Hybrid states emerge and the world is forever changed by this 11th century contact.

If you really want to accelerate history, telling the ancient Greeks how to use the aeolipile as a steam engine would have probably resulted in an industrialised Roman Empire. I can only imagine we'd now be 1,500 years "ahead" of where we are technologically.

Or climate change might have killed us all in 600AD.

I’d go back to the early 70s and kill Steven Spielberg and George Lucas.

What would movies be like now without Spielberg and Lucas?

You think? Spielberg is an amazing director and Star Wars/Indiana Jones wouldn’t happen without Lucas, but they did usher in the age of the blockbuster. Their imitators (and Lucas himself) have been responsible for some utter gooseberry fool.

Without Jaws and Star Wars creating the modern blockbusters, would we have seen the late 70s and 80s become an era of indie/thoughtful films and those movies continuing to be more commercially viable?

Does this place count as social media?

Anyway, I'd go back a couple of years and stop the Undertaker losing to Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania, for crying out loud.

I'd also like to watch them build the pyramids to prove it wasn't aliens. And I'd like to see what they were playing at with Stonehenge, come to that. But, then again, I'm not changing anything there so that doesn't count.

So, I would go to Easter Island and tell them not to put them big stupid faces up and just do an egg hunt instead.

No, wait! I'd go to South America and stop the conquistadors burning all the texts and artwork. Probably the single greatest act of vandalism in human history.

As for what would change? Well, I expect we'd find a few new recipes for absolutely banging chicken fajitas at the very least
