This. It's far from perfect and had some terrible moments, but overall my impression was positive.

I thought the end was really quite flat but the overall season was decent enough.

That article seems to be saying 37% of the audience finishing the season is bad because Netflix will cancel anything that is under 50% but says it can’t be compared because Netflix release a season in one go. So it should be compared to viewing figures for certain HBO shows, which is still an entirely different broadcast model!

Surely they should be comparing how The Rings of Power has done to shows on Disney+, Apple TV, or even Amazon itself? It may still be doing poorly by that measure but at least it would be a fair comparison.

Also, the article says "sources" claim only 37% finished the series. It sounds like Amazon themselves haven't confirmed anything.

They would never go on the record to confirm that, nor would any streamer. There's no equivalent of Nielsen boxes to confirm these things for the public, which suits streamers fine. The overall article is quite damning on how much money Amazon is blowing on its TV and film projects. Phoebe Waller-Bridge was not only paid $20m per year on a three-year deal and produced nothing, but Amazon then renewed that same deal! On the bright side, the Fallout series is apparently "extremely expensive", so whatever it's quality at least it'll look spectacular.

I bet that number doesn't include the number of people who watched the whole series via piracy :shifty:

WOKE!!!!!!!!!

;)

Some of the criticism was fair, but was completely overshadowed by the racist twats who got all upset that there were black people on screen.

I quite liked it, even if my inner Tolkien nerd was screaming in parts.

I'm looking forward to S2 as well. It's not a very accurate adaptation, but it was still fun.

I really enjoyed S1 for the most part.

I'm treating everything outside the books and original movies as fanfiction though. High budget fanfiction, but fanfiction all the same.
I'll watch it, enjoy it, then forget it ever exists most likely.

It's just fan fiction isn't it(Edit: Just read Delvin's post above...yeah exactly that! Fan fiction!) . The Sauron stuff was absolutely ludicrous. I enjoyed it all the same. I'll probably watch season 2 too, and enjoy it, and rate it a 6 or 7 out of 10.

I thought the quality of writing was terrible, and didn't particularly like the performances either, so I've pretty much blanked it from my mind.

Of the 3 big franchise-based (if that's the right word) TV shows I've seen over the last year or two, The Last of Us and Fallout were miles better.

Although I'll probably watch season 2 and moan about it endlessly.

I enjoyed S1 in some respects it’s just very hard when it’s always going to have the film trilogy over it as a comparison.

The ending was a bit poor but I’m looking forward to season 2. Hopefully they sort out the pacing of episodes some seemed to just drag
