They’ve recently changed it to what you’ve described - it used to have the cc icon but they’ve removed them all, you have to click into the film/show itself to have a proper look, like you say. So they’ve deliberately made it worse for the sake of a tiny but helpful icon.
Garbage. Quite often as well, the subtitles are about a second behind the dialogue, so following them anyway is a bit a brain melt. Another megacorp not giving a strawberry float about who signs up.

Just had an email about the price hike. Going up by £1 a month if you pay that way, but £16 if you pay yearly. That’s very shitty. Fortunately mine renewed last week for the year.

Yeah I got that mail too.
Annual still works out cheaper than monthly, but not by as much anymore.

Just switched to a one year subscription for £79. I was paying £7.99 a month for years so don't know why I didn't do it sooner.
It's going up to £8.99/month or £95/yr from next month.

Can you stack Prime membership?

Mine runs out in November. I think the first season of Rings of Power will be over by then, so I'll almost certainly cancel.

Just give it a try. It will confirm how much they will charge you.
The price rise starts 3rd Aug but my current monthly sub ends 5th Aug yet it still confirmed that I'd be charged £79 on the 5th and £95 in 2023

I'm not fussed enough (other than for RoP) about keeping Prime, I was just wondering if others could stack their membership now before the price increases.

Doesn't look like there is an option in the manage membership to renew early.

It's the first box which states your current membership. If you click on "see more plans" then you can manage and change to it to annual.

I think I'll be cancelling at next renewal. Look at the different prices in Europe. We're being fleeced here (as are the Germans).

UK - £79 to £95, a 20 percent increase
France - €49 to €69.90, a 43 percent increase
Germany - €69 to €89.90, a 30 percent increase
Italy - €36 to €49.90, a 39 percent increase
Spain - €36 to €49.90, a 39 percent increase

They'll be charging us 2.25 times the Italy/Spain price.

That’s pretty amazing. Do we receive more services than some countries though? I don’t think prime video is available in Spain, I could be wrong. Also though I assume the lower prices in some countries is also due to them trying to increase the uptake of services there. The uk is far more into online shopping than both Spain and Italy.

It looks like the products are different, this Daily Mail article from 2015 compared them

I can't find a more recent comparison though so not sure if they've "caught up" to what you get in the UK package. I expect they have been adding more to the European offerings and are now using this opportunity to increase the price accordingly (hence the larger % increase abroad).

The only Prime thing I actively use regularly is the delivery. Same day/next day delivery and nearby Amazon Lockers is handy as strawberry float.

I've barely used Prime Video other than a film or two, but I'll definitely be watching the LotR show. What else is included in Prime again? Some music stuff and a library of free Kindle books?

Can you not use Amazon Lockers without Prime then?

Can confirm that you don't need to be a Prime subscriber to use Amazon hub/lockers. I use a locker for nearly all my deliveries and have never signed up for Prime.

I'm not sure but I just prefer getting stuff delivered quickly to a locker rather than ordering somewhere that delivers using DPD who don't tell me the delivery window until 2pm that day and it's something strawberry floating annoying like 7-8pm
