Whenever I hear the name Michael Bay, I think of this Ben Affleck annecdote from Armageddon.

Netflix has its fair share of gooseberry fool content too.

Final episode of Expanse season 5 is out and its really good.

I can't believe Alex died of a stroke.

I am now wondering if the final book is being delayed to just before the final season.

They're trying to work out how to shoehorn in a part for Sean Bean.
All great shows must have him in.

Not only did I see this, but there was also some anti-vax covid game on the Switch eshop. It's going to be a weird time period for future historians to study, that's for sure.

I haven't heard that! As the only person on this forum to recognise Armageddon as one of the best movies ever made, hearing Affleck go in on it is both hilarious and blasphemous. I'm conflicted. :|

Watched it last night; thought the final ep was a bit of a damp squib tbh. The final 5 mins were good though, whereby it sets up the next season.

Everyone else prob already knows this(!), but spotted this earlier - 'The Expanse may not actually be “canceled” after season 6. Think of it as more of a pause, say the authors'.

The most interesting part of the episode was the last minute or so wasn't quite as WTF as when I first read it in the book but it was well done imo, they're clearly going to have to destroy the ring now

I loved this season, it gave the characters a good chance to go over their own stories from before the Canterbury, they're no longer just the crew of the Rosinante but are people with pasts.

Can they really destroy the gates though given how useful it is and how many viable planets are now in reach?
Yes, someone activated the goo of ultimate doom but it may not be all bad maybe. If the goo does kill everyone there won't be anyone left to complain so there is that.

I watched an Amazon original movie last night, called Hustlers. I remember Mafro going on about it I think and I can see why, the dirty perv.
Not much story to it but it’s ‘inspired by a true story’ so not hugely surprising, I suppose. Takes ages to get going but that’s ok because the first 50 minutes is full of tits and ass.

Whatever it was that wiped out the aliens who made the ring is clearly still around, judging by what happened to the Martian destroyer it s capable of wiping out every human in the solar system so it'd probably be better destroying the gate to prevent it getting through.

I wonder what it'll take to destroy the ring gate? No way a nuclear barrage does anything to it. Maybe strap a ton of engines to a moon and throw that at it after guiding it round several worlds to pick up speed?

Please could someone with a UHD set check Blade Runner 2049 UHD for me on Prime? It's not setting off the UHD pop-up to show. All other UHD content works. (I could tell BR2049's wasn't even without the pop-up now showing because the white text had no pop to it.)

I think David Cameron is a fan, I seem to remember him having two copies in his DVD collection.

Image quality is fine, aye. It just doesn't have HDR. (Even the physical 4K disc's HDR looks exactly like SDR, so maybe that's why.) Thank you for checking.

From the 4K telly thread:

Saint of Killers wrote:Zavvi have a 2 for £20 4K BR deal on. Think I'll go for Spartacus, Shadow, Blues Brothers and... something else. Is the first Jurassic World any good?

Could someone please check something on Prime for me? They have Blade Runner 2049 on there in UHD. My TV isn't getting the HDR signal for it though. All other UHD shows are fine. BR2049 is meant to have weak HDR, but I can't believe it has *no* HDR...

I don't think it has HDR. I don't currently have Prime, but on their website HDR isn't listed, but for other films that they have in UHD versions, like 1917, HDR is listed.

Blade Runner 2049

Did he have any other movies that stood out to you, and how come you were round his gaff?
