I’ve use a Dex a few times on holiday now and it’s bloody handy, you connect a tv to a usb c dock and the phone to the dock and you can use keyboard and mouse and apps in windows and that, we use diff Netflix while away.

I’ve not had any real battery issues, I charge it at night and it’s fine. It has power saver for when you “need” it to last longer.

Thanks I think I will go for that. Seems too good a deal to miss out on. Was hoping to not have to buy another phone for a while, I had pretty much settled on the A70 and was just struggling to justify paying double the price.

I would be very surprised if it doesn’t last a long time, I still see people on s4s on the train and I only moved from s8 after years because the screen was cracked and that triggered new phone wanting, otherwise I would still be on the s8 as performance wise it was still as good as new.

Oh, Google have stopped supporting the Pixel 1. gooseberry fool. 3 years, that's all they did. Bastards, I only had it for 2. Whats the point in waiting a while to buy a phone for cheap.

Samsung galaxy. I'm still on my S7 and it's supported.

Yeah, they still support your phone by deliberately slowing it down when it gets old enough.

They stopped doing that /let you run at full speed and kill your battery now.

This, Samsung support (for phones at least) seems very good.

Updates in Android are a gooseberry fool show, google oem license requires people to support their devices for 18 months after that, meh.

Apparently the S7 is the best case scenario, and even that is less than 4 years old. And I preferred the idea of stock Android, although I hear Samsung have been better recently.

And the difference between Apples and Google's approaches to privacy is growing more on my mind these days.

But really, it mostly comes down to cost, the idea of paying as much for a phone as a laptop or a high end TV still feels very odd to me, residually when I feel I don't really get full value of usage out of it. My phone is mostly just a web browser and used for BBC sounds. It didn't feel like phones these days have extra functionality that justify going from a few hundred pounds to a grand. Maybe I'm just not looking for that functionality and stuck in my ways, but I don't feel like I'm missing much. ...God, is this what being Jawa feels like?

if you use it just a phone then no it won’t have the value, but if you don’t need a laptop/pc that can do games but work processing etc. the s10 becomes great value due to Dex, it is a costly phone but has strawberry float loads of power allowing you to use it as a pc of sorts with the Dex dock.

You need to way up how much you care about updates, also take into consideration there are different update types now it isn’t just Android OS like the old days, the more important one is the Android Security Level updates, these update the security of the device and are for he most part android version agnostic, they also keep coming for more than 2 years.

Personally, I don’t mind spending more in a phone as I use it everyday and any lag will strawberry float me off a lot, also with stuff like Dex I have extra use cases for the s10+ that just “phone” it’s awesome on holidays and in hotels as means Netflix on the room tv, as well as being able to use it as a laptop for web, word, excel etc. but on a proper screen.

Plus camera, the s10 has a gooseberry fool hot camera meaning I can’t take half decent shots on days out and things and not feel I’m getting worse photos that a point and shoot camera “because it’s a phone”.

Holy Hell, the Razor that's been teased is actually real: https://www.theverge.com/2019/11/13/209 ... otos-video

Much too expensive for me, but looks a much better try at a folding phone than Samsung's attempt.

Has anybody else's Pixel 2 battery life gone a bit gooseberry fool since the upgrade to Android 10? Mine was really great until about 2 months ago, but since the update the battery life seems to have halved. Its a shame as its the first phone i have owned that has not slowed down etc since purchase almost 2 years ago.

My pixel 1 has gone to gooseberry fool, but I've only really noticed it these last couple of weeks - rather than specifically from the update.

Thanks for the reply. Maybe we have both exceeded the optimum number of charges for the battery... It just seemed to be on the day of the software update for me.
