New android is a bit weird. Not a massive fan of both mobile data and wi fi under the same tab.

Wish my image sig would work

On stock Android:

Long press home screen > Wallpaper & style > Turn off Themed Icons

Thanks. They were already turned off which is why I was confused. Had to restart my phone.

Now the dot at the bottom of the screen has disappeared so I can't change apps, only the back arrow is there

How strange mine (pixel 5) hasn’t done this.

It fixed itself when I locked my screen and unlocked it. Still though, not what you want

Another change I don't like, before if you swiped up twice you could reach your list of apps

Now you have to go to the home screen and then swipe up on your wallpaper, why?

Why not just let me keep doing it from the app swapping screen? Swiping up on that screen now just does nothing, it's such an idiotic change

They seem to even know it's a problem because if you do it a few times it's shows you a notofict of how to get to your app page

Now instead we've got a dedicated button for highlighting text in the app swapping screen. Because I'm sure lots of people copy and paste text from one app to another all the time right?

They seem to be pushing gesture control over the always on buttons quite heavily now. So swiping up twice does actually get you to the app drawer since the first swipe takes you home, a la iOS.

Android 12 seems basically fine to me. My only real complaint is the one Godzilla mentioned with WiFi and mobile settings being merged into one button, as it actually removes the ability to toggle either.

I strawberry floating hate swiping controls. Like, you're trying to navigate a web page and, oh no, that's too big a swipe, you're off on an adventure again. Bring back actual capacitive buttons on the bottom of the screen.

One thing I do like is how the screen pulses when you plug in a charger, seems dumb but it feels cool

Anyone have a pixel 6? I need to replace my Pixel 2 and wondering if I just go for the new one.

I’m only hearing good things too be honest. Only negative for me is the loss of free Google photos back ups.

I have the pixel 5 and would definitely choose a pixel again. I’m only 12 months into my 2 contract so will wait for he pixel 7.

I went from Pixel 2 to Pixel 6 Pro and it's brilliant. Especially for the money. If you don't want the zoom lens or care about the 120Hz screen, then the cheaper model makes even more sense.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

I've had the Pixel 6 for nearly two weeks and I think it's great, especially compared to the competition in the same price range.

I wouldn't be surprised if you can find a good deal on it in the next little while either.

- I've found this a much heftier and thicker phone than I've been used to for quite a few years, coming from a OnePlus 5T and Moto X before that. You might feel similarly coming from a Pixel 2? It's thankfully not that much bigger than the OnePlus 5T for me so it still easily fits in my pocket

- That (tasteful) thickness and the glass back has however given me instant flashbacks to the Nexus 4, aka the greatest Android phone ever made

- The camera bump/bar does look odd at first but like all these kinds of things you get used to it very quickly. Becomes a nice little finger rest too when you're on the phone

- The haptic motor is excellent, easily the best I've used in a phone, to the point that I'm actually usually it on the keyboard. Apparently the Pro one is even better

- Doesn't take long to get used to gesture controls over dedicated buttons but that option is still there. The one handed mode seems buggy to me so I've not used it even though it would be useful

- The under the screen fingerprint reader is just that little bit slow to be bothersome but isn't bad enough for me to not want to use it

- The battery life is pretty good, especially using the adaptive features but not class beating by any stretch.

- Charging speed is also slower than I thought it would be. There's an adaptive charging thing I didn't realise it had though (although this might just be an Android 12 thing?) which allows you to just charge overnight without any worry so the slower charge isn't that big a deal in real world use

- Cameras seem good but I've honestly not used them that much! The telephoto in the Pro is meant to be great so if that's something you think you'd get a lot of use from then maybe consider that over the regular 6.

Thanks! This is really helpful, same goes for you Winckle as well.

I'll probably go for the basic one rather than the pro. Going to be a bit annoying going from paying my £20 a month to like £40 again, but I can afford it so all good. Will get it all ordered later I think :D

Just got some new wireless headphones (AKG N700s) and have had an issue with playing music via bluetooth on my S10 where even though it remains connected and the music says it's playing, the audio cuts out. Anyone experienced anything like that? Thinking it's a software issue rather than the new headphones?

I never go for the latest phones but my Moto G9 Power has decided to stop charging and now my battery is dead which is soooooo annoying.

I have only had the phone for 10 months, why do things have to break so soon!

It cost £180, you wouldn't expect it to stop working after 10 months. Granted that's on the lower end but £180 is still a lot of money and its not unreasonable to expect better.

That really comes across as a bit sneerish like I should know better

At 10 months it will still have warranty. But yeah at 180 quid I wouldnt expect to last past a year. 180 quid is a lot of money, but isn't aot of money "for a phone" some stuff cost money and phones are now one of them, you cheap and they have to cut corners so it will either run like a pig very shortly after getting it or build quality will be gooseberry fool.

I'll see your Nexus 4 and raise you the Nexus 5. Now that was a phone. I couldn't get on with the rubbery sides of the N4. The N5 was a masterpiece.
