I swear Samsung's build quality has gone down the toilet.

*Edit* Just checked and the warranty is 6 months, I've had them for 6 months and 2 weeks.

Factory reset usually fixes this sort of thing. I have the buds plus and have had to reset once to get the touch pad working again on the right one.

I’d say your right about their build they deffo don’t seem quite as good as they once were.
S10+ has been playing up with launcher restarts and lag in this heat which is proper gooseberry fool.

It didn't work unfortunately. I just can't believe it's completely broken as it's fully functional other than being quitter.

Equaliser isn't on Soft or something is it?

No it's on bass. That would affect both buds wouldn't it? I lied actually, ambient sound has stopped working on the right bud too.

Yeah they sound buggered. I have the Buds+ if it helps and they are decent other than the needing a reset to get the touched on the right one working.

To be honest I don't feel like buying anything Samsung again. 6 months is pretty horrendous. My Bose sound sports work fine despite being chucked in a gym bag and charged infrequently.

Understandable. The bud+ works great but having to reaer after a few months is piss poor, the performance of my s10+ in the heat was utter gooseberry fool and I think the usb c port is beginning to give up so I know where you are coming from.

I can very much see my going for whatever the latest Max iPhone is when it comes to upgrade.

Yeah I have the note 10 and the screen has bubbles, I'm pretty sure the phone has warped a bit and I keep getting slow down for no apparent reason. It's a shame as I think the products are good.

I very nearly went for an iPhone this time and am a bit disappointed I didn't now.

Samsung's constant need to just fill it's phone with technology that sounds better than last year's version when distilled to a bullet point - rather than focusing on things like long life support for updates - means I'll never consider them for a phone. If I was going to spend that much money on as phone I'd just get an iPhone, at least I know they won't forget about it after 2 years.

Samsung support stuff for ages, the S8 has only just (May) dropped off of getting monthly updates and instead gets a quarterly one now.

Samsung have issues but long term update support really isn’t one of them. You might not get the latest Android version but you are secure etc. which what’s important and means less chance of slowdowns etc. as the OS demands more from the old hardware.

I would consider only 2 years of Android updates for something that cost over a grand frankly ridiculous.

If Samsung put more effort into its photo software so it could match Google on low light, selfies and low light then I may give them a look but until then it's a no from me.

Yeah, I've got an S10, and the camera is brilliant most the time, but crap in low light.

No idea what the complaint is with Android. My OP3T is still going strong from December 2016, it barely ever suffers from slowdown and I use it extensively each day. I am finally notice the battery becoming weaker but it's been over three years!

Admittedly it's not just Samsung, even Google now only commit to 2 years of OS updates on their phones. I just don't understand how they think this is acceptable for devices that are so expensive.

Because they want people to upgrade to a new phone in two years. That’s the model most manufacturers now work to.

Google drop all updates at 2 years. At least Samsung still do security ones.

It’s acceptable because the majority of people upgrade at 24 months on their contract. People that buy phones outright are the minority and so don’t matter as much.

Why put effort into devices that most people won’t be using.

I disagree strong and can't believe you're ok with and trying to justify what is essentially forced obsolescence - just because a load of people like something new and shiny doesn't mean others should be forced to participate in that kind of consumerist lifestyle that only benefits the people who sell the damn things.

Jesus, having the strawberry floating nerve to say it's acceptable for companies to force people to buy new hardware because you haven't thought about all the people who can't afford a new phone regulary or at all. But strawberry float those guys, they're not spending a grand every two years, so not the type of customers people care about.

strawberry floating acceptable? Acceptable my strawberry floating arse - just because some people put up with it is not the same thing as acceptable, not even close.

Oh calm your arse down.

Noone is forcing anything, but from a business point of vie why spend money on dev, test, support, etc. for devices that are older and are available in fewer numbers.

Some companies are better than others and ideally they would do it, but I can see and accept why, it just isn't cost effective. You initially said "strawberry float Samsung" and I pointed out they do security updates which is good, that I would say is a decent level to be at, if you aren't buying new you shouldn't expect the latest and greatest features, first a lot just wotn work well as slower hardware wont run newer software, second is the cost to supporting older hardware sets from a dev perspective.

Yeah its not ideal, but really if you are buying older devices and are suprised it runs older software that issue is on you. Why should they support devices for 4 + years when most of the devices will have died/ been broken / run like gooseberry fool with newest OSs

I'm still using my galaxy S7 and battery life aside, there's nothing wrong with it. I get an update pushed every now again, and it seems secure enough.

Yeah security updates come for ages as they are made by Google and are OEM agnostic. Still optional to send out, terms of Android license is minimum 18 month support I think so they could drop it very quickly.

Kind of tempted by the Pixel 4a. Don't really need it through as my Moto G6 does all I need despite a cracked screen (which is not noticeable when the screen is lit up).

Pretty disappointed with the pixel 4a spec and not being available until October. OnePlus Nord looks a better bet or the few phones around the same money with 90hz screens and the 765 chip set.
