I use GBoard (Google Keyboard) its made by Google and has all the swype stuff in it, have been using it for yonks.

Same, and I find it works fine 95% of the time. I used to use Swype back in the day, but stopped getting it when Google implemented their own version and haven't looked back.

Oh that's much better, SwiftKey was a load of turd! Now I just have to get all my swear words and Arsenal players into the dictionary (which I'll probably do at the same time knowing us...)

Chrome app on Android seems buggy as gooseberry fool the last few days. Screen tearing when scrolling and some video clips don't have the top half of the image matching the bottom.

I really don't want to change Web browsers but this + the super annoying "open tab in new group" feature are making me reconsider.

Firefox has ublock origin support now. Worth switching for that alone.

Hello.

Posted in apple thread too.

Is there any way to use my samsung galaxy as a USB hub to connect to USB devices and transfer files between them? In this instance a Western digital HDD and my Micro SD (with a USB slot) . Thanks in advance for any help.

Not sure if this kind of thing would work?

Do you mean

Plugin a USB Hard Drive AND an SD card and then copy "stuff" from the SD to the HDD using your phone as the device to do it ?

If so yes that should work.

So you want to transfer files from the usb HDD to the phone's memory? A USB on the go adapter should do the trick if I'm understanding you.

That's thats the one. I basically need to transfer data between 2 USB devices without a computer. So the phone should be able to do this. Cheers!

Anyone have recommendations for an app I could use to play downloaded podcasts? I've been using Google Podcasts, but the podcast I've been going through the backlog of has well over 300 episodes and the first 80+ episodes don't show up in the app, so I'm now faced with directly downloading some 80 episodes from the podcast's own website. None of the podcast apps I've found so far allow importing of audio files.
I could simply use a music player app, but there are a number of obvious issues with that.

Is my best bet perhaps to use an audiobook player? No, probably not. Just tried that and it wants to treat all of the downloaded episodes as part of the same "book". So I'd finish episode 76 and immediately go onto episode 77 (which I will have already listened to since I'm going through them in reverse order). Ugh.
I guess I could create a separate folder for each episode? That would probably do it...

I use PocketCasts and it's pretty decent.
It can auto download episodes as they come out and add to your queue which is nice, alternative to download everything is you can have your queue set to cache so as you add to your queue it gets downloaded rather than every unlistened to episode being cached.

They also have a Windows and a web client but to use those you have to pay a sub which is like 1 quid a month.

Not sure why you didn't mention it, but that app actually does do what I specifically asked about (listen to locally downloaded audio files). The only problem is that you can only import one file at a time, which I don't feel like doing 80+ times.
Thankfully I've found another app that allows me to import entire folders (Podcast Addict).

I've got myself a Xaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro

Not too different from my Honor 10 but had to get rid of that because the external speaker blew.

This has got a lovely AMOLED 120hz screen.

Lots of bloatware.

This is a common Xiaomi thing unfortunately. Lovely phones, but too much unnecessary bloat. My Mi6 is still going strong despite me saying I'm going to buy a new phone for the last year.

Starting to get tired of my old Moto G7's habit of slowing down every so often and messing up texts or URLs or whatever I'm trying to do at that moment. I would love to get the Moto G100 because it looks exactly perfect for my wants but, uh, not available and not usable in the US. :fp:

Guess I'll have to keep looking for something else.

I came in here to post much the same but I have a G5S. I did a factory reset a few months ago but it seems to be giving up the ghost - the power button doesn't work either! Android phones do tend to just go to gooseberry fool after a few years as the bugs pile up.

Looking at the G30 at about £160. Don't really want to go up to £200 (current phone was £180 when purchased I think). Any particular gems in that price bracket?
