I may have to move on from my beloved OP3T in the next 12 months or so. It has finally started developing issues, like turning off due to the temperature being too hot or cold.

Poco X3 NFC

I was turned off by the talk of ads and bloatware with Poco phones. It was really refreshing to move from Samsung to Motorola and escape all the stupid Samsung apps. I know you can get rid of all that shite but it's always a harder job than it should be...

I always seem to struggle to get Android phones to actually use external storage. My phone is always fit to bursting but I still have loads of space on my SD card. This current phone is 16GB and all the ones I'm looking at are at least 64GB so it may be less of an issue, but I'm thinking I'm going to pay a bit more and get a phone with larger internal storage just to delay the problem further into the phone's lifespan

That's absolutely fair, you won't get better spec for the price though. Realme 8 is another decent option although I do think they can look a bit cheap.

The G30 is a totally decent phone btw, I've been really impressed with Motorola stuff lately.

I'm saving for whatever the pixel is this year. I was going to get the Pixel 5 last October, but it was underwhelming and my Pixel 2 is still a workhorse so I put it off. There's rumours of a foldable pixel coming.

A little over three years old and my OnePlus 6 is showing the first signs of senility.

I'm pretty confident it will last another year at least. What's even new in phones over the last few years? Am I missing out on anything that has been developed since 2018? It feels like the technology plateaued (at least temporarily) a few years ago and any improvements have been marginal at best.

Yeah I agree. My phone is becoming a bit slow simply because of web javascript getting out of control, but the phone itself is in good nick and works fine a few months shy of its fourth birthday. Some of the stuff I've seen from Samsung in foldable phones is genuinely impressive, but the question of applications that make use of it vs adoption is a bit of a chicken and egg scenario.

I have the pixel 5 as I was upgrading from a 3 year old Nokia 8 so it wasn't underwhelming for me. It's been fantastic. I would certainly plump for the pixel 6 if the rumours and specs are correct. Fantastic phones and cameras.

Absolutely, it's a great phone and I didn't mean to badmouth it. I meant that for me, with my Pixel 2 it wasn't as big a step as I had hoped it would be, particularly in the CPU area. So I decided to wait a year. Now I'm nearly ready for a new phone.

Oh I know what you meant. I was initially put off by the CPU but haven't regretted it. I'll will definitely upgrade to another pixel next year.

I ended up going with the Xiaomi Note 9 in the end as it seemed on at a good price. I'm liking it, but I'm still getting used to having a chonky boi phone with no hard face button. I don't think my fingers are long enough to unlock with the fingerprint sensor

It does take some getting used to.

Hope you enjoy your new phone!

Why did Google add a bench to the back of the Pixel 6?

I have no issues with the hole punch in the front screen, never been an issue for me.

Cameras can't be made thin and still be good. Really they should just let the damn phone be thicker and fill the space with more bloody battery.

I can't decide between getting a Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3.

Have they resolved the bubble screen issue though?

The only thing really making me think twice about the fold is the thickness of it when folded. It's thinner than the 2 but still a bit of a chunky looking boi.

Xeno wrote:Have they resolved the bubble screen issue though?

Apparently that was solved with the 2 that launched last year.

Let us know how it is!

When it goes down in price that might be one I look at.
