It does feel like Google threw it out there just to get it out after the delays.

Are you using something like google photo backup as you can use its free space feature if you haven’t already to clear the local copies of photos and videos. Means any you want to view will be pulled from “the cloud” but saves local space.

I have been having issues with my Oneplus 3 (4 years old), battery life was getting worse and the sound quality was getting problematic as well. I ended up getting the Nord, I got it yesterday and so far no issues with screen tint, photo quality (I really don't take pictures so it wouldn't bother me if it was poor) seems fine to me or overheating. Runs well, screen response is good. It did come with a load of facebook gooseberry fool but that you can uninstall that.

We shall see how things go in the future.

Anybody got some good YouTube app alternatives that allow playback with the screen off?

I used to use OGYoutube but that seems to have stopped working now. Once I try to sign in it accepts my 2FA and then just hangs after I hit the Google "I Accept" prompt.

+1 Vanced

Get Vanced Manager (Google it) and it does the updates and stuff for you as well.

Blocks all ads too.

Jesus, having the strawberry floating nerve to say it's acceptable for companies to force people to buy new hardware because you haven't thought about all the people who can't afford a new phone regulary or at all. But strawberry float those guys, they're not spending a grand every two years, so not the type of customers people care about.

strawberry floating acceptable? Acceptable my strawberry floating arse - just because some people put up with it is not the same thing as acceptable, not even close.

Agreed, especially as someone who pays for a cheap data only contact and then buys their phone outright, I'm likely not to pick up a brand new model and get one that's already 1 or 2 years old as it is, so to be told that it's only going to get 1 year or none of official support is ridiculous. These are strawberry floating expensive bits of kit, the last you can ask is that os support lasts for a decent amount of time.

Any advice on how to best track my childs iPhone from my android phone? He previously has an Android so I just used family link but not sure of the best way to do it now. His phone is supposed to share it's location with mine over Google maps as he's linked as my family but it rarely works. It's currently not updated his location in over 3 hours. Despite attempts to refresh it.

N.b. he's here with me so I'm not trying to find or spy on him.

I just use iCloud.com to keep track of my iPad from a browser.

Enable find my phone, then you can go to iCloud and see if from there.

There is Family Sharing https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201060#location That may do what you want, it allows you see see where family are etc. not sure if you can chess it from Android though. Cross eco system isn’t really Apples thang.

Thanks I didn’t think to just log into iCloud.com on my phone.

Family sharing won’t work cross platform. The other way round it would work if I had an iPhone and he had an android though.

My phones battery isn't lasting a day any more (it's a pixel 1, so getting on) so I pre-ordered a 4a from America, and it arrived today.

It's really nice and a good upgrade from that previous hardware. This OLED screen is a massive step up. It's the same sized phone, yet the screen is an inch bigger, and so much more vivid. Not too bad a price either, considering modern prices.

Yeah I think GG delisted it after it stopped being developed. Not sure why but I'm sure there was a reason.

I used to use Google Play music to sync music from my PC to the cloud, and then to my phone. Google, as usual, are shutting down that service and it's being replaced with Youtube music. I was able to move my library over, but it turns out you can't turn off the screen or go to another app while listening to music, which pretty much goes against the point. Does anyone have any alternatives they have been using?
