Whenever I mention I'm playing this to my partner, she starts singing this:

...except with Crossing instead of crackers, obviously.

It's such an earworm!

Are you excited for the new Animal Crossing on Switch Fisher? I think it'll be at E3 :toot:

Now I've worked out how to carry more fruit  I'm planting peaches on an industrial scale. Shame you can't press-gang the animals into being fruit pickers while you go fishing on the island.

Once you have your orchards laid out properly you’re printing money  with all that being harvested every 3 days and fishing/bug catching on the island/in your town whenever you fancy meant I only very rarely dabbled in the turnip trade as it relied purely on luck rather than well laid out plans.

I honestly cannot wait for Animal Crossing news at E3, I just hope they don’t ‘do a Smash’ and spend 25 minutes of their direct on it! I don’t think this will happen though as they have plenty of games to show off already, before theyve announced/teased any new games.

I've slipped away from AC these past few weeks but I'm keen to check this out, Lime!

I think I'd be happy to see *loads* about the new AC on Switch!

I'm sure there's an optimal way to plant/lay them out for maximum yield, but I've just shoved them in every random gap at the moment. I'll have to replant some smaller areas at a time.

You can't move on the beach for banana trees!

I built an illuminated tree for one of the villagers, Bella. She couldn't have given less of a gooseberry fool when I'd finished it, didn't even show up for the ceremony. That's the last time I bury her time capsule!

Don’t get me wrong Jawa, I’d love 25 minutes on Animal Crossing, but I don’t want them to or we’ll have a Smash-esque situation like in their E3 direct where people who aren’t fans of Animal Crossing (if such people exist ) would just become bored/annoyed like I did during the huge Smash segment in last years.

I waited a while before getting a decent chunk of my town properly planted in a pattern to try and maximise efficiency but to start with mine sounds much like yours (and still is in parts), disorganised chaos! My beach is still the same though, a mix of banana and coconut trees with one gap between them so I can still grab shells, fish and so the trees actually grow.

I very much doubt they'd do a repeat of last year. There isn't much need to.

I made my millions on the turnip market, entirely thanks to this place - it's a lot easier when you have an active community all checking their prices each day.

What.... I thought the prices were individual to your own town? Has my whole time failing at the stalk market been me not looking at the prices of everywhere else each day?

They certainly won’t this year as they have plenty of content to fill out what I’d guess will be a 40 minute direct, you could have argued they didn’t need to spend so long on Smash last year though, it could have just been a shorter direct and all of the Smash info could have been shared in the Treehouse segments which for people not remotely interested in Smash would have made for a much better direct.

From memory, every village shop gets different prices, but it'd be the that price for any player visiting that shop - so if say my village was paying out a huge sum one evening, I could then invite other players to visit and sell their turnips here.

It worked when the game launched because half of GR was playing, so you could justify the risk of buying a gooseberry fool ton of turnips and chances are someone would get a good price in the week. It'd be a huge risk now as chances are you only have access to your town. :(

Ah thats good to know, thought I’d missed a huge trick for a moment then! Dare say we’ll have a big selection of players to do the same with when the Switch game releases, if it stays the same (I can’t see it changing though), I might be able to make a huge fortune early on for a change (although that would take out some of the fun of building an efficient farm, spending your days/evenings hunting bugs and fishing to fill the museum and sell for bells). When Animal Crossing and Pokémon releases later this year I’ll definitely be getting the online membership.

If the system stays the same, I'd definitely hope we can get a turnip racket going. It was a social aspect of the game I really enjoyed - you could agree a time in the evening you'd be opening the gates and then people would pop over, have an explore, sell up and leave a gift or some bells. You'd quite often find little messages left on the town board and stuff - good times.

Never actually had much online interaction in any Animal Crossing game. Maybe the Switch version will change that.

I never really explored the online aspect of New Leaf, just did it locally with one of my siblings who also loves the series. I’ll definitely be up for joining in for the Switch version :)

I got lucky with the turnip trade on the GC version once, which allowed me to pay off my entire mortgage. Good times.

Great article about what exactly it is that makes these games so memorable.
