Then why are you complaining in a manner that would suggest you having to pay extra?

I assume it's a quarrel about paying for a complete game at launch. The updates, free or not, have not been substantial enough to warrant it being considered 'extra' content, but rather content that should have been there to begin with as part of the initially paid portion of the game. So to perceive the updates as 'free updates per the generosity of Nintendo', as if they've done something great and wonderful, is a bit of a piss take.

surely it could be seen as nintendo giving us what we're owed?

But they’re not selling it

It’s just a marketing tactic

I think he meant "selling" figuratively.

I love restaurant analogies. Imagine ordering and paying for a 3 course meal. You get the appetiser all fine and dandy, but then the main course doesn't arrive for 3 months. Then dessert is another 3 months.

Considering we’re 18 months after launch, you’d expect the game to be on a level with New Leaf though? That only had one major update but it was a much more complete game at launch than New Horizons was. It was a little poor that the museum wasn’t even complete at launch and we had to wait a few months for Redd and the Art section to arrive.

I don’t dispute that Nintendo have picked up some lousy habits I just don’t think there’s any sense in getting this upset

Especially for a switch game that's probably got more space to have a lot more to it. NPCs are missing that made the game a little more entertaining. Brewster, Resetting, Gracie, and Harriet are main NPCs and seems to have been forgotten about. Events like April Fools have disappeared. And we have no explanation to why they were removed.

Yes and no, I feel people who’ve paid for the game are entitled to their opinion. As I’ve said already, I’m happy with the game overall but it could be a decent bit better and the free updates have been non existent for the last few months, does make me wonder what the development team are doing for New Horizons now or have they all moved onto other projects?

Yeah it’s just a shame, it does a lot of stuff right but doesn’t feel right without most of the series previous NPCs and as you said, it’s not like there’s a reason why they aren’t there 18 months after launch.

in the case of harriet the fact that we can now pick our hairstyle and colour whenever we want has kind of eliminated her purpose. just what auto save did to resseti but without the reassignment

I’d actually be really disappointed if we don’t get at least another major update for New Horizons.

I actually would be really disappointed if that was the case though, with how well it’s sold I’d like to think they’ve still got a decent number of people working on it even if it’s just for one or two more decent updates. I’d also like to think the last update will just keep all the events unlocked regardless of if the player wants to time travel or not as after a couple of years on sale, people probably won’t be fussed about the consequences (although with no Resetti there’s not even a consequence most likely!) of time travelling and might just want to revisit the events if they’ve missed them for some reason.

Nintendo don't have the money or resources to support both New Horizons and Splatoon 3. It's one or the other!

It was a good week for art lovers on Howdyfern as first Stitches sent me a genuine olmec head in the post, and then I bought a genuine statue of David from Redd.

Five pieces of art remaining! :datass:

- Moving Painting
- Wild Painting Right Half
- Tremendous Statue

(I'm also still in need of a blue rose if anyone can help me out...)
