I think through observation this much is true. But apparently this stack is wiped after the first day after you wished on stars. Just feel cheated out of my star fragments; one of the few mildly interesting things left in this game imo.

I'm sorry to inform you it only spawns between 7am and 7pm, so you might have been looking at the wrong time. Good news though, it spawns all year round so if you keep shaking trees you'll get one sooner rather than later.
