It's also mentioned that he's looking for a new job so yeah, he's most likely sticking around to give us an earful either way lol >,> My guess it's probably to do with online stuff.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons' project lead Aya Kyogoku officially announced that Mr. Resetti lost his job at the Reset Surveillance Center due to the upcoming Switch title's new auto-save function.

Honestly it's been a long time coming with a game like this. Also keeps playthroughs feel more natural.

Well, Mr Ressetti need a new job.

Looks like Animal Crossing won’t be supporting cloud saves.

Well that’s just stupid. If people want to manipulate time let them.

Animal Crossing is exactly the type of game you want to backup. Losing months of progress and the Village you’ve built up and having to start again would be awful.

I'm flummoxed.

How would cloud save compatibility allow for manipulation of the game's clock? If anything it'd make it more difficult, no?

It would let you to back to a previous save state which would let you exploit various things-eg reset the stock in Tom Nook’s shop again and again to increase your chances of in game items.

Previously you could do this by resetting the console without saving. Mr Resetti would appear and tell you off. Now you could do it by not uploading your current save to the cloud and restoring a prior save.

I suppose you could argue we don’t know much about the online. Perhaps there is an online tasing economy that would be affected by exploits. Revardlsss I feel like they could have figured out a way around it somehow.

You’d have thought they could allow full cloud saves for people who aren’t fussed about manipulating time and then partial saves for people who’ve time travelled? I don’t know what they could omit from cloud saves for people who’ve time travelled though, thinking about it I really don’t know how time travelling could impact on cloud saves anyway?

Obviously for online play they could just force you to revert your town to the correct time, but I assume this may be a requirement anyway.

New video from the direct, looks lovely.

Very strong contender for my game of the year in 2020, even with the lack of Nintendo titles confirmed for next year.

I already said it once but I'll say it again.

This game looks so freaking gorgeous. If you'd shown me this 3-5 years ago, I'd have a hard time believing it.

Funny you should say that, it does look nice but my overriding feeling when I watch footage is that it looks remarkably similar to Wild World, which is the last one I played. Do we know anything about any new mechanics that they've added?

Crafting is new right? Seems like a significant change.

Also you can pole vault over rivers

Crafting was in Pocket Camp so it's new to the mainline series but not the franchise as a whole (though it'll be less crap, one would pray).

Reason enough to buy it :datass: .

I'm super-excited for the game but also a wee bit nervous about it. New Leaf launched in 2013 and I'm concerned that, with the rise of lower content / pay-more-to-get-stuff approach in the industry since then, the game may feel a bit light in comparison. Pocket Camp totally turned me off and I wouldn't want many of that game's mechanisms to be used as a basis for the Switch game.

But, of course, I'm still pumped to see more!
