I might have to start this with the new updates, never played AC but seems to be a lot of excitement around these new additions plus I guess they will have an Xmas event coming soon?

Just caught the direct on my break and the update is fantastic (although I'm hoping not all the coffee chats are behind the amiibo cards)

Not sure about the paid DLC or the pricing model yet. Need to look into it more but certainly seems to have a lot of guff. Good guff.

I just showed my daughter the direct and now I'm 100% having to get the DLC. She loved happy home designer on DS so she's over the moon with what they've done.

Ok, my urge to start a clean slate continues to grow >,> That update was much bigger than I was expecting.

I guess that’s not a thing like the New Leaf major update, where you could basically ‘sell’ your island and keep your catalogue so you could start afresh but not massively down on what you’d spent a lot of time amassing, so in this it’d be the catalogue and the DIY stuff, maybe in this you could could have kept all your crafting ingredients as well.

Biggest omissions still for me are any kind of HHA rating and the mini-games. Kapp'n just takes you to more Nook Miles islands instead, wow, great...

Iirc Happy Home Designer is barely even a game centred solely around one's own creativity and motivation to make nice looking things. So Happy Home Paradise seems to pretty much be a pay wall for more items. But to essentially make the sequel a cheaper DLC, linking to the main game, is definitely a good decision.

I probably wont play much of the dlc, as I never really liked happy home designer on the 3ds, but the rest of it will probably make me go back to the island a bit more regular for the next couple months at least.

I popped back into the game last night and a few residents informed me that I had not been around for nine months :o .

I had forgotten many of the controls (particularly around building) and had plenty of weeding to do. I'm gonna try and get myself up to speed again ahead of the update arriving.

I only just realised that on Harvs Island, Red will have a permanent shop! Finally we won't have to wait weeks for him to appear!

You can bet his permanent shop will only update the stock once a week though  Which is probably more often than most of us have seen Redd to be fair!

With one item and the chance of it being fake? Even daily seems like it's still being unfair.

I haven't properly been on in ages so I'm going on today for a clean up, most of my island is deep forest as in my mind it's this fruit picking logging community it's an animal forest, but I figure I need to trim some trees to set up my farm area and stuff. On the other hand my misses has two islands , I got a spare switch for £120 incase anyone broke there switch screen and she's commondered it as island 2 , both of hers are mapped out with precision and themed areas and she tells me my jungle does her nut in lol

The eternal battle... neatness versus "relaxed". I personally do like my island to be spick n' span although I can occasionally veer towards being totes reckless... I do have a wooded area where the trees aren't arranged in neat rows :o .

If the game didn’t penalise you for having too many trees I’d definitely have a wooded island! I love meandering throughout the trees and they look even better in this game when the weeds look this good and piles of leaves too which just add to the overall look of it. In fact if I could start afresh with the terraforming tools from day 1 I’d probably go half and half, wooded look for half the island and then a TTYD inspired island for the other half, doing it now would just take too long

Well it depends how you view the downside as a penalty, I could never achieve a 5 star rated island when I had kids more trees, once I cut loads down (didn’t change anything hung else from what I remember) it became a 5 star one, might have just been me but I don’t get how having too many trees is a bad thing, Isabelle claimed villagers were getting lost
