I'm afraid that I don't have all of the fruit types, Fisher. Back in the summer I really got into the game, starting afresh, creating a new island and putting 70 hours in. I've since wandered off, though; I got a little frustrated by the square pathways on my island after seeing the more natural pathways that some folk have created. I was going to try and create some myself but ideally I'd need Nintendo Online so that I can view/download these pathway designs.

I might get back to it at some point!

how many pathway designs did you create.

I used just two designs; paving and a little bit of dirt. I created pathways around the whole island; fairly chunky ones. They worked out pretty well but, yeah, they are all square-ish rather than having more natural edges (which are pretty hard to do).

Halesowen is open for business! For about two hours, anyway. Use Dodo Code B1X2F to take a flight here.

Got a question about unlocking items in Wardel’s catalog in the DLC. Do items get added to it if you decorate a vacation home and those items are available to use, or only if you use those particular items? It seems like the best way to get your hands on items rather than hoping they come up in Nook’s cranny, or get given to you by a villager.

It's all items given to decorate a home, no matter whether used or not. I'm sure Tsunade will correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks to Tsunade's Animal crossing event I have transferred my Island to my newer Switch, so at least this gives me the chance to jump on with minimal fuss if and when I decide I want to.

Yeah this is correct. You don't need to use the items in the DLC to have them put into the catalogue. You just have to have made that character a home to unlock the items. The only things that won't be put in are the villagers photos that you will still need to earn through friendship, and I think the posters. I may be wrong about the posters though.

That's great! Thank you! Got some ideas in mind for areas of my island, so just making lists of people to try and get on the Vacation Island. It's very tempting to pick up some Amiibo cards.

My last day off work today, so spent quite a lot of hours on the game. Right now, my Island is just in a state of functioning to get me bells from fruit trees, and make the little daily tasks like digging up fossils, getting materials from rocks etc as quick and easy as possible. I've cut down every tree other than my fruit ones and a little group of regular ones that are all in one spot. I also got rid of all the wild flowers. There's a huge pile of items I 'might eventually' want just sitting in a long row at the very bottom of the island.

It doesn't look pretty but I figure I want to have at least a basic plan for the whole thing before starting to work on it properly. I think I'm going to end up doing quite a bit of terraforming.

Well, bought a bunch of amiibo cards, but I’m trying to avoid using them to fill my island with the villagers on them. If I did that, I’d probably be quite reluctant to let any of them leave, and then I’d never be meeting new villagers! So I’m just inviting Faith and Roswell for now, and then letting the other houses be used by randoms… for now. Audie was a random and I think I want to keep her forever. Megan was another and might be a similarly case. Don’t want to miss out meeting more!

My daughter is playing my digital copy of AC on her own Switch, but she can only actually play it when selecting my Nintendo profile (which I've added to her Switch) and she doesn't seem to be able to progress very far - can't donate items to Tom Nook, can't get some of the basic tool recipes etc.

Am I doing it wrong or is Nintendo just crap with this method of sharing a game?

Yeah you have to donate 5 items to him before he mentions Blathers in the very early game, but when my daughter plays there's simply no dialogue option to do anything with bugs/fish she catches other than show them off. So essentially Blathers will never come to the island and set up the museum.

No, she's a week into playing, has moved into the house and paid off the first mortgage but it's as if she's still on day 1 for what she can actually do. Can't craft the shovel or axe, can't donate bugs/fish, can't dig for fossils. There's also still a yellow tent with a full mailbox that she can't access, as if the game thinks there's another player (maybe my profile?) that needs to do something in order for things to progress. All very furstrating for her, but like strawberry float am I shelling out £40 for her to have her own copy of the game, much as Nintendo would love me to.

Did you start the island? If you did then you probably do need to trigger it

Yeah I probably did, I think I'll just try deleting all save data and starting from scratch with her user being the one to start things, if that's even possible given she's playing my copy of the game.
