Fisher, yes, it was the fishing tourney at my island on Saturday, too - but I missed it because I was out all day!

My island is in the northern hemisphere but the bug-off was a couple of weeks back. I'm looking forward to whatever event pops up next!

Oh, boy, I am getting deep into the rabbit hole that is Animal Crossing. Right now I am wrecking my island as I try and move buildings and bridges that I thought were in the right place but weren't. It's gonna take a while  :fp: .

Meanwhile Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom stare wistfully at Jawa’s Switch, willing to be played like Animal Crossing

Glad you’re enjoying it all over again Jawa :)

I did, dude - I re-planted a couple of peach trees that I'd dug up! At the moment I'm spending time on laying new paths around the island; I need to move a couple of houses, too.

Hiya, help me out please. How do I find out my island code? I'm gathering you use it at the airport.

What can people do if they visit my island? I don't want stuff getting stolen or moved about.

Do lots of people still play this and visit other players? I've only been playing for a week but my island ain't looking too bad.

I've sent out a few random friend requests, please add me if you have a nice animal crossing island to visit. Preferably one with freebies.

My code is 6324 7798 6977

Thanks much.

Jawa and Fisher etc, get me added please. I won't destroy your islands and I'll only take stuff you say I can. Donations of bells and cool stuff greedily accepted

You don't have an island code per se. You have a Switch friend code - and if someone has yours and you have theirs, then you should be able to discover their island (or you discover theirs) when you're at the airport if you search for a friend, as long as you're both online.

The other option is to go to the airport and generate a Dodo Code. While your gates are open (i.e. your airport is online and you're available to be visited - make sure to close the gates once you want people to stop coming) anyone in the world can use that Dodo Code to travel to your island (so you have to send them the Dodo Code via other means).

I think that's all correct. It's been literally years since I played.

What can people do if they visit my island? I don't want stuff getting stolen or moved about.

No one can move furniture you've placed but items that are merely dropped on the ground (except fish, bugs and sea creatures) can be picked up again by anyone. That's the only way to trade furniture outside of sending letters.

Within the NookPhone you can change friends to "Best Friends" status (I think you have to have one another's Nintendo codes, and one of you has to have visited the other) which then enables your new Best Friend to use more tools on your island - normally you're restricted to nets and rods while visiting other people's islands but if you're a best friend, IIRC, you can also use a shovel and axe.

Do lots of people still play this and visit other players? I've only been playing for a week but my island ain't looking too bad.

I think there are probably lots of active players online but I think most people here have since moved on, though there may be some folk who still drop by their island every now and then...

It's been months (maybe even a year) since I've loaded Animal Crossing up as well, its a great game but as I found with previous games in the series, once you hit the 18 month mark, you've seen nearly everything, done nearly everything and you just start to see the same stuff repeated. If they let you have a second save/island I'd have probably started a second save but they don't and I don't fancy deleting Keelhaul!

Plus the villagers are just so emotionless compared to the original

Go to sleep in your house and you can visit dream versions of islands. That's probably the easier way to see people's islands than getting online at the same time.

I should clarify that what OR is referring to is an actual in-game feature, and he isn't advocating that you should give up on making friends and just go to bed.

Man, I'm so enjoying be back into New Horizons! A few days ago I was struggling with the layout of my new town but it's really coming together now. I have the island pathway layout pretty much completed and I'm gradually adding the necessary bridges and inclines. I gotta move a couple more houses, though!

I'm making my pathways three blocks wide. Unfortunately it seems that the bridges and inclines are best-suited to two blocks wide and so they don't line up exactly right, but three still looks better imho. Once I get trees and flowers into place the gaps won't really be a prob, anyway.

If people want to visit, I'll be checking over Halesowen later and will likely be opening up at that time too. Watch this space in about two hours from now.

Just been notified by my bestie Sprinkles that it's been a year and six months since I was last seen at Halesowen. That is a very long time. Don't think I'll be checking in all that often, but it has been nice wandering around again.

Anyway, gates are open with the Dodo Code of GTBPX.
