So, I managed to get on. Impressions follow, but they're not impressions of the game. They're impressions of my time with Undertale. Obviously.

- The intro sequence is entirely FMV, and starts in media res. This means that your character gets to do a bunch of cool stuff while you...watch. It's weird. They've also gone down the Destiny route of making the plot as incomprehensible as possible. Lots of "We've got to save the Reactant from the Maelstrom created by that Gleaming Obelisk! It's reacting to that ancient Coloniser tech!" etc etc
- There's no character customisation, just a Destiny-esque choice of face presets (21 of them for each gender)
- There doesn't appear to be any dialogue options during conversations, at least not yet. Each convo plays out as an extended in-game cutscene with no interactivity.
- Your handler character is unlikable within 5 minutes, and nails-on-chalkboard annoying after 10, and probably the one you'll be spending the most time with. Nice.
- The hub level is a huge visual downgrade from the initial reveal. It's also tiny, one street section and a engineering bay. Could obviously become larger later.
- The graphics are nice, but I honestly think Destiny 2 looks better. The art design in that game elevates it above this, which is so far very bland. Think a generic version of Pandora from Avatar.
- The sound design is amazing and the standout feature for me.

Movement feels good, but the initial mission design either 'fly through these rings' missions from GTA or 'shoot these things'.

But yeah. This doesn't feel like a BioWare game in any way that's good.

Taf - good to hear all this, ta. How much game is in the demo and have you met any other players?

There's hardly any content, 3 missions. One pairs you with other players, but there was seemingly no reason for this as it was a standard 'go there, kill x number of things' one.

I agree with most of the comments by Floex and Taf about this, except the sound effects which I do not hear.

I think it’s got a little potential and I don’t know how much they have left out for the final product.

I couldn’t get on with public as it kept telling me to change the difficultly so end up I played on my own which I found it enjoyable anyway.

May give it another go at another session tonight.

What an absolute disaster. The game was struggling to garner much interest as it was, and now this debacle is turning people off in droves. Loads of people claiming to be cancelling pre-orders.

I'm not fussed about the game as it looks generic as strawberry float, but I do worry about further ramifications with regards to EA taking risks on new IP in the future. Could be a major turning point, this.

I managed to download the demo but now I'm stuck on the opening splash screen.

Yep, I'm completely locked out. This is worse than them just delaying the demo and game. How can they create a game for what they hope will be millions of people all playing at the same time that completely strawberry floats itself as soon as those people try and sign in?
Either pay for the server capacity to run a game like this or just don't bother at all.

Watching a live stream now. Looks enjoyable enough.

Haven't they already said they're not doing any more singleplayer games for the foreseeable future?
