A huge bargain for a pretty new triple A release.

I wish the game was offline though then I'd be all over it for single player fun.

You can choose to play pretty much the whole thing solo, if you want to.

Recent silence and a couple of high-profile departures from BioWare have led fans and pundits to speculate that the studio has abandoned its most recent game, Anthem, but the opposite is true. For the last few months, BioWare and parent company EA have been planning an overhaul of the online shooter, according to three people familiar with those plans. Some call it “Anthem 2.0” or “Anthem Next.”

...The one thing that’s for sure is that BioWare has not abandoned Anthem, despite recent breathless declarations that the game is dead. (There are few better ways to get views on YouTube than declaring Anthem to be dead.) Right now, dozens if not hundreds of developers at both of BioWare’s offices—in Austin, Texas and Edmonton, Alberta, Canada—are quietly working on plans to overhaul the game.

It would be amazing if they could pull a Final Fantasy XIV with it, but I just can't see that kind of comeback happening.

The reason XIV worked was because they were 100% transparent on it. This hush-hush approach just raises these worries that the game has been abandoned which causes the playerbase to lose faith in the project.

There are absolutely going to sell this new version back to those already playing.

I mean, you could argue that The Taken King and Forsaken were selling Destiny to people who'd already bought in but those were refinements not redifinitions. This sounds like an entirely new game.

I was one of the day one idiots that's picked this up. Had fun for 10 hours before seeing straight through the game and not touching it since. A real shame as me and mates were so looking forward to it. If they do a full overhaul if be up for giving it another shot!

If they attempt to sell it back to us as dlc or whatever then set fire to the game. I bought it digitally but I'll still find a way!

This is £8.85 at Base right now, tempted to pick it up to see if they actually add to and improve this game.

Is it worth picking up at that price? I don't play games online as I don't have a sub to any service.

Definitely.

It's received way too much of a pumping just because it's EA. It's a mediocre example of whatever this type of game is called with some very cool features. It gets boring before the end arrives but you'll see it through because ultimately it's not that long, it looks pretty and the cool stuff is worth coming back for.

Cool, might give it a whirl then and see what it’s like, for under £9 it seems worth a punt

£5 is madness for a triple A game so soon.

I still like the look of the game but the free weekend showed me that it needed a lot of work. It'll be interesting to see if they can turn it around and keep investing in it.

What will be more interesting is the amount of people who will still pre order Anthem 2 when it's announced despite the gooseberry fool show this has been.

Wish my image sig would work

For a fiver I'd certainly bite, a trip to Tesco will be needed.

If all you're after is the main campaign it doesn't need any work at all, it's perfectly fine.

Depending how they go about revamping this (No Man’s Sky big, free patches or Destiny paid for content packs plus patches) £4.99 seems a really good entry point as it could be something special in time
