Howdy!

I think there are a small number of forumites that live in Japan, am I right?

I'm hoping that there's some way you can make the impossible happen, and that you might be able to help me get access to the most obscure piece of Piano sheet music I've ever tried to find.

There's a story behind why I want to get this, which I can explain, but I don't want to go into it at this point since it might seem like emotional manipulation - I'd rather have a willing accomplice that's doing it because they're willing to help me out, and also are curious about how the internet (and specifically GRcade), can solve problems that would have been impossible to sort out even 10-15 years ago.

I also might need a bit of local knowledge since the prices involved might determine how to sort it out (scan & email vs international post etc)

This sheet music is only available (from an extensive search!) in a small music shop in Okinawa - and for licencing reasons apparently he is unable to ship outside of Japan. I'm hoping that my willing Japan-based accomplice might be able to purchase on my behalf, and then somehow foward it either by post or electronically.

Now I've typed this all out, it sounds ridiculous, but I still think I'll give this a punt on here!

Is anyone up for this? If not, does anyone have any alternative suggestions as to how I might solve this problem?!

Thanks all!

Can you not buy it and have it shipped to a forwarder address in Japan who could then send it to you? They do have companies that offer services like this, not sure how much it costs though.

Hmm, that's a possibility to look into, thanks!

I'll see if anyone on here is able to help, and then check into that if it's not possible on here.

edit: looks like it might be an expensive service to ship £4 worth of sheet music!

It's a Gustav Lange piano transcription of Gounod's Serenade.

(I can't seem to get an image up of the first few bars on here)

I did say it was obscure!

Thanks for the advice guys- I think I've solved the problem.

I found a book of a collection of sheet music with the piece I wanted in it, out of stock, then googled the ISBN - it wasn't available in the UK but found a Japanese Amazon marketplace seller that had a used copy. I confirmed with them that it definitely had the piece in and ordered it. £7 odd including delivery!
