360 version confirmed to be in development

Today, at the EA press conference, it was announced that Electronic Arts will distribute Realtime Worlds’ All Points Bulletin (APB), the urban-themed MMO from Dave Jones, the creator of Lemmings, Grand Theft Auto and Crackdown.

Though the press release doesn't indicate that the game will appear on other systems than PC, a spokesperson told TeamXbox, "We’re not giving details out at the moment, but it is being developed for Xbox 360."

TeamXbox will see the game during E3, and we'll bring you any new details as we get them.

In conjunction with the announcement that EA will distribute APB, the companies have released new, never-before-seen assets, including the following 90-second HD trailer.[/quote]

Electronic Arts to publish APB

Electronic Arts is to publish Realtime Worlds' APB, the highly-anticipated massively multiplayer online game for consoles and PC.

EA's CEO John Riccitiello described the studio as "an incredible team" citing the talent's heritage with titles such as the original Grand Theft Auto and Crackdown as a key reason for working with the developer.

APB (All Points Bulletin) is the next title from Scottish developer Realtime Worlds, and follows the success of the studio's first Xbox 360 title, Crackdown.

APB will be at E3 2009

Well the long wait is over, here, courtesy of Ulric, is a little gift for the community;

“Hi everyone at APB-Evolved, we just wanted to quickly say thanks for all your patience recently whilst we’ve been quietly pushing forward with the development of APB.

We know this can be frustrating for fans, so to show our appreciation we have decided to inform you guys that yes we WILL be at E3 this year and this will mark the start of lots more news, activities and information coming out about APB: All Points Bulletin.

Here is a brand new screenshot made especially for you guys to give you another look at the awesome character customizations that will make up a large part of APB.

See you all at E3.

Overview

APB (All Points Bulletin) is an upcoming massively multiplayer online video game for Microsoft Windows, based in urban sprawls and featuring two sides, Enforcement and the Criminals. Players may join either the Enforcers or the Criminals, and form sub-groups in these. The game design is lead by David Jones, creator of the original Grand Theft Auto and Crackdown, and is being developed and published by Realtime Worlds.

While it was initially expected that the game would appear on Xbox 360 as well as PCs, GameSpot reported that "the PC edition was [Realtime Worlds'] priority and will be the first to market" and "that if it does proceed with console editions of the game, both an Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 version" would be considered.

Gameplay

The game takes place in a modern-day, fictional city where there is a constant battle between "Law Enforcement" and "Gangs", and the player will need to decide which side they want to participate on. The two sides battle out for control of the city, with territory within the city being contested continually 24 hours a day, so that players must concern themselves with both offense and defensive moves. Other activities involving missions within the game allow the player to earn extra money, which then can be used to upgrade weapons, vehicles, and their character appearances, all that influence the game itself. For example, several Gang players may rob a convenience store within the game; the game will then seek out one or more Law Enforcement players of equivalent skills and other criteria, and will issue an all-points bulletin for them to stop the robbery. Jones confirmed that players will be able to use the Last.FM service to create custom soundtracks within the game.

It's sad that I will get this purely because of the character maker being amazing.

I really hope this eventually gets released for the 360. After Crackdown I'm sure RTW will do a great job with this. If it doesn't get released on the consoles perhaps it'll be a reason to get back into PC gaming.

First post updated. Thought it was time to bump this considering it'll be at E3.

Really hope a beta gets announced very shortly as they've been teasing it for months.

Can't wait to see how this game plays out , I'm very interested in the matchmaking style and how seamless it looks!

Definately, I'd say the beta will play a huge role helping to develop how the matchmaking system will work.

It says consoles. So maybe it's coming to more than one? Would be nice for it to come to as many platforms as possible. Looks so amazing.

Yeah, quite possible...I was working off the assumption that Microsoft have tied in Realtime Worlds as well.

That is what Ruffian are for. RTW are happy being an Indie studio.

Don't get your hopes up. EA's press release doesn't mention console versions at all.
