Apex Legends - Out now on Switch.

Another win last night, that's about 5 under my belt with far less games than I thought it'd take.

It's still aces.

Finished in final 2 squads last night with some randoms. Last team pincer attacked our hiding position and wiped us out.

Communication system is so good if you don't want to use mics. We were well organised but just let down at the end by a better team.

I’ve been sticking to Gibraltar until I got the hang of things. Have I been making it unnecessarily difficult for myself? Trying some other characters tonight. I still haven’t come down from the high of last night’s win. Either that, or I’m ill. (It’s both.)

I really struggled with him, not a fan. I've switched up to Caustic and not fared much better, won a game a couple of nights ago but had a torrid night last night, couple of 2nd places that was it and not many kills at all. Trying to take my own advice not dwell on it and keep trying to play smart.

Seemed to have best results with Bloodhound or strangely lifeline, I say strangely as while she's essential for any squad really just doesn't really give you much of an edge in combat.

I enjoy zip lining over an emeny squad and strawberry floating them up from behind.*

*putting myself in the middle of an entire team and getting immediately decimated.

You say that, but she can completely block gunfire while reviving, use healing items much more quickly and can heal herself with her drone while shooting back at you.

She definitely gives you more of a combat advantage than a couple of other characters

Sounds good. I’ll give Lifeline a try next then.

2 more wins lastnight, first one was very tactical as we were in a large building that only has a front and back entrance, it's like a bunker, we had 1 team caught between the gas and us down a corridor so we ended them then caught a team at other entrance unaware as they were facing away for some reason.

2nd win was pure luck, in a building at centre and bottom of map and we had set up there early on and there we stayed as the circle eventually got smaller and smaller over our location and with no cover around and the edge of the map behind we picked a window each and watched several teams kill each other and then when final one had to run in, we picked em off at range.

I have still only managed three wins from about a billion games.

It's going to be more difficult for you, A) Random team mate lottery gives you garbage more often than not B) You don't use mics so any coordinated team is going to have an advantage over you, great as the non verbal system is it's no substitute for voice comm.

I don't think it's any coincidence myself Photek and other who regularly play in full squads with people we know are the ones winning on a more regular basis.

On that subject much more successful night last night and picked up a win with Caustic last night, particularly satisfying gas grenade in the final melee between three teams was a game changer.

I mentioned earlier that the special powers would really unbalance a solo mode. Lifeline would be practically useless, whereas someone like Caustic would become overpowered.

I’d rather have 30 vs 30.

I would say probably. On the PS4 friends list, when a person is playing Apex it says "playing Squads in King's Canyon". To me, that's a clear indication they'll add more modes than Squads and more maps than King's Canyon.

Definitely can see all kinds of modes coming including solo mode.

Given time I can see a pilot only mode (wall running, no supers), mechs only, 30v30, the future will be good seeing as it’s a hit

So this is free, eh? Might have to check it out and see what all the fuss is about. I don't have much history with BR games, didn't really get on with Fortnite but this looks a bit more polished and more graphically to my taste.

but I can see certain locations on the map you’ll be able to call in random mechs.
