Hmm... I could see about giving this a go sometime. I did enjoy my few months of Fortnite and it is a new place to be exploring.

Ive played a round and won, and this game is really really boring and will be dead before too long

Not sure what to make of it so far. I like the character designs and abilities but it feels pretty soulless without the wallrunning and titans There's nothing here that really sets it apart from Fortnite, PUBG and Blackout.

It’s pretty disappointing we’re not getting Titanfall 3. If I was going to play a multiplayer by Respawn I think I’d just try getting a crew back into T2 rather than try this just because it’s Battle Royale.

Also it seems like an odd time to release it with Anthem around the corner.

I legitimately dont believe they made a player character with an orbital bombardment ability

EA wants to have its battle royale cake and eat it; the new Battlefield with it in must not be doing well enough, so they decided to interfere with another perfectly good franchise in another attempt to get in on the BR cash cow. Probably.

Based on the Beta, this is infinitely better than Anthem. I like it, the ping system is great.

Is anyone else suspicious of the launch timing too? I mean, this is a little conspiratorial but it dropping just after the Anthem demo pretty much killed all the rather flat takes resulting from that.

So this is Titanfall BR with pilots only and a smattering of Overwatch lite. It hasn't got double jump or wall running but it has the sliding and all the weapons are from Titanfall. It's a decent base line to build upon, I get the impression there are gonna be more maps also.

Pilots can double jump and wallrun, they ain't Pilots.

Had a couple of goes last night, not bad but definitely no TF. Controls feel weird to me.

First time I’ve ever felt like deleting a game before it’s even finished downloading.

This is definitely a battle royale game, and boy are there lots of shiny character/weapon skins, intros, finishers, banners and trackers to pad out the gambling.

I understand why they're so popular but running around and getting shot out of nowhere/while browsing items does nothing for me. At least i can say i've tried it.

At least they tried skill based movement. It seems that nobody wants that any more. I'm going to blame consoles.

Seems like they’re going for absolute honesty. It’s not a good look.

Ehh that is....misjudged.

My impressions:

+ Ping system for communication is really intuitive and easy to use
+ Loot level indication for the area you are in is nice to have
+ Controls really responsively, just like Titanfall 2 - especially as it retains that fast and efficient slide...
- ...but that makes the lack of double jump and wall running really jarring to me
- Looting doesn't match the run and gun pace of the game, and starting with no weapons is not fun when the ring shrinks so quickly and encounters are common

Making it hero based helps set the game apart, but I'm not sold on the approach. I think it makes looting weapons seem weirder, especially when some characters have damage capability from the start with their ultimates.
