Sim City 4 and The Sims 2 works though. :msgreen:

Looking on the App Store, there definitely isn't a dearth of quality and AAA games to play, but it feels better suited to those who don't care for playing the latest releases (apart from Disco Elysium) and can take or leave old stuff (for example they've got remastered Myst and realMyst but not original Myst; they've got all 3 of the new Tomb Raider games but not the originals; F1 2016, '17, DiRT Rally and DiRT 4 but not any of the new versions; Bioshock 1 and 2 Remastered but not 3).

Don't forget you can get Steam on Mac.

I'll have to have a look at that later then, as another thing I've noticed on the App Store is that prices are rather high for a lot of games. I don't know how often they do sales.

Are the games available on Steam the same as on the App Store? For example with Disco Elysium it's one of the few titles that appear to be natively designed for the M1.

I did have a spin on Asphalt 9 (a free arcade racing game with surprisingly good graphics but varying degrees of simplistic handling - the car accelerates itself) but after about 15 minutes I came to the realisation 'why am I playing this when I could be playing something decent on a PS5'.

I do like how Apple allows you to stack free trials. I’ve currently found myself with AppleTV until August, Music until January, News+ until April and Arcade until July.

There’s even a few big (ish) titles on Arcade that I was going to play on PS5, such as The Pathless and Beyond a Steel Sky.

Question, do the HomePod Mini’s work exactly like Echo Dots? Will they let me play all my music through Apple but also let me control the lights and such if I get the smart bulbs?

The smart home stuff needs to be Homekit compatible for the proper native support, but even without compatibility Siri shortcuts can fill most of the gaps.

Found some (unboxed but great condition) iPhone 4s and 5s at work, destined to be work phones for sales reps but went unloved. Was told to bin them.

Is there such a thing as a second hand value on these?
Are there geeky apple collectors? :slol:

Mazuma mobile offered £4 each :slol:

iPhone 4s - completed sales on eBay listed as "for parts or not working"

iPhone 5s - completed sales on eBay listed as "for parts or not working"

Looks like you could get a fair bit of coin for them on eBay. Even more if you can switch them on and establish that they work.

ElekDirect strikes again.

Been waiting on them getting the Smart Keyboard for my iPad in stock. 159 rrp at Apple and managed to snag a customer return for £50.50. Out of stock now obviously, but cannot overstate enough how good this place is to buy from. Much cheapness.

Going to pick up a Mac Mini to replace my (2009 :slol: ) iMac. I was looking at ebay prices a couple of months ago and it seemed quite easy to snag one for £400, but now it looks closer to £500. I feel like at that point it might be worth paying the extra £90 and getting an Apple refurbed one. It will mostly be used as a media server, which seems a bit overkill, but hopefully getting the one with the M1 chip would make me be able to go that little bit longer again before another eventual replacement.

I've got a 16GB M1 Mac Mini and it's brilliant. Love it.

I am after a sleeve for my 14” MacBook, does anyone know if Apple will be releasing any soon or a good make that you would recommend?

If you want the best of the best, I always buy Hard Graft sleeves for my MacBooks.

You will have to pick the 14" option from the dropdown.

I use one by "Inateck" from amazon for my 13" MBA. It does the job, but im not sure how good it will look next to your Union Flag.

Thanks, I wasn’t aware of this company before but they have a lot of good reviews, I have gone with the 50/50 one and got it a little bit cheaper using a Black Friday code

I have just looked at them and they look really rather smart and would look a lot better next to my Union flag than my current sleeve which is a Amazon Basics one and in case you forget they stitched on a badge with that on it,

Hopefully that 50/50 one fits your 14". It shows 15" & 16" compatibility so it should, might be worth contacting them to make sure.

I've been using Hard Graft products for years and they are exceptional. Obviously they are on the high end premium side, but you get what you pay for.

I'm currently struggling to transfer a file from my Mac to my separate HDD. You'd think it'd be very simple, but it isn't.

Using my iPhone I downloaded an MP4 video file from the internet to my iCloud account. I then used Airdrop to transfer it over to my Mac. Just to make sure, I then downloaded it to my Mac from my iCloud account. From the download folder I dragged it over to my desktop, where it currently sits. What it's not allowing me to do however is drag and drop or copy the folder over to my USB HDD. When I attempt to do so I'm greeted by a circle with a line going through it. It's blocked. What am I doing wrong?

Where: iCloud Drive > Desktop
Where from: iCloud.com/blahblahblah

Sharing and Permissions: Read and Write
The small padlock in the bottom right is also unlocked.

Is the external drive formatted for NTFS? Macs can’t write to that.

Yes, it is. So it can read all the files on there but I'm unable to write anything to it?

Bugger!

Yeah, it can read but not write. If you reformat and want to use it with both Mac and PC, go for exFAT.
