It’s a murky situation.

Nobody wants their phones scanned. But CP is vile. But it wouldn’t work as it’s set for Apple devices only, and unless the technology is wide used on other platforms, nothing can stop them switching over to other platforms.

And then Apple can paint Android as the paedo’s choice.

Might try and get a 13 Pro Max on the upgrade plan. My XS Max is almost 3 years old and the battery life could be better.

Seriously there might be semiconductor shortages given just how much of the market is willing to give it up to Apple.

But Apple's model is:

Premium look & feel
Above average performance
Lock-in
Marketing x100 on small incremental improvements for functionally identical products
Inflate the price as much as possible while keeping production cost minimal

The idea Apple make as much money as they do purely from making good products is, well, not really true. The memory thing has always bugged me too.

Nintendo do it as well because Iwata was a big fan of Apple's model while probably being less of an arsehole than Jobs.

Yeah they really do try to up sell what is minor improvements year on year (which is why I don’t understand why anyone actually needs to upgrade their phone year on year, doubly so given the price), I do enjoy the couple of Apple products I use on a daily basis (iPhone XR and 2018 standard iPad) but none of these are feeling like I need to upgrade at all yet and I’ll be waiting at least another year or two on both of them before upgrading. Out of all the products in the Apple range the standard iPad is the one I feel is the best value for the money and with the upgrade in storage to 64GB its even easier to recommend to someone wanting a tablet, £320 isn’t cheap but I think it’s a cracking tablet for what you pay in my opinion.

Your iPad screen will only be 1.6” larger than the phone’s.

Never bought an iPhone at launch before so I don’t know how scarce they are but I do like Apple’s approach of letting you actually build the order and pre-authorise the payment in advance, so at 1pm tomorrow it’s only a case of opening the app and hitting confirm to execute the transaction. Last thing I want is them blowing through all the stock while I’m configuring it and trying to decide on any accessories.

I don’t really *need* the upgrade tbh, my current one is still going really good. I think half my motivation here is in giving the 11 Pro to my girlfriend. She’s not a fan of her Pixel at all.

Can't see a way of finding the battery health but it's only 11 months old (bought it at launch at the end of October)

Probably around £450ish, it's good as new and it has an official black Smart Cover that's been on it since day one (those covers are £79)

I've got a 128GB graphite 13 Pro Max preorder preordered in the Apple Store app along with a dark cherry leather case (since they're not doing a leather Product Red for some annoying reason) and black wallet. I'll only get it if I can change the purchase option to the iPhone Upgrade plan at checkout, which apparently you can but we'll see how it goes. If that works then I'll trade in my XS Max towards it.

Same model and colour as me, but I’ve gone 256GB, and with a grey silicon case. Didn’t bother looking at the MagSafe stuff really. I’ll get them whenever.
