My old ipad is annoying me a bit as it's essentially a doorstop at this point. Think it's an old Air 2 - it doesn't update anymore, so Tidal won't work. Otherwise I would have used it as a dedicated music player to run tunes through to my amp/speakers.

Has anyone jail broken theirs to try fix old apps not working?

The below short film was made using the iPhone 13 Pro's new cinematic mode. Absolutely incredible stuff imo.

I unpaired a set of Sony wireless headphones I was using with it and the reset/ kernel panics I was having have completely ceased. I've pushed the computer to its limits lately with video editing, multiple live streams and games on the go at once and have had no issues.

That's weird. How many Bluetooth devices did you have paired with it?

It was just those and a bluetooth mouse. There was something the computer didn't like about it, clearly.

Though it could just be coincidence and an OS update might've fixed it I guess. Either way apple were unable to diagnose any problems with the hardware.

Still think a GSOD is a bit pants but strawberry floating called it on the Bluetooth headphones :datass:

 well done.

That anomaly aside, I love this computer.

Have any of you guys with the iPad mini noticed the "jelly effect"? It's getting traction online and whilst I think it's always going to happen on a 60hz panel, I think the smaller form factor is making it more apparent? I don't have one though so am only commenting based on what ive read about,

I didn't notice it until it was pointed out to me by the Verge

My MagSafe pop socket grip arrived today and I’m not sure about it. The more fixed grip position is making some areas of the phone more difficult to reach than before and it’s only really moving the weight from my little finger to my middle finger in an equally uncomfortable fashion. I was expecting to it to feel more natural but it feels less so, especially when holding with 2 hands. The only improvement I feel I like it really brings is making you less likely to drop the thing.

Sounds like Watch Series 7 preorders start on 8th October, with shipping the following week.

Finally decided on my phone - 13 Mini, 256GB in red. And it’s the only version of the Mini that I can’t find stock for. I was going to go cheap with the SE, but figured it wasn’t wise to skimp if I end up keeping this one as long as the 6. So it was between the regular 13 and the Mini. Despite the regular phone’s larger screen and battery, its size is otherwise all negative for me, from reaching the far edges of the screen and being a greater drop risk, to being uncomfortable to pocket. The Mini is smaller than my 6 but has a larger screen, so it’s an all-round win. I just need to get one before the watches go on sale.

The new Apple Watch would be an insta-buy for me if it had the new flat case design that the leakers were so sure about but hilariously wrong about.

Like the phone, the new Watch is a buy for me but half of the drive is passing the old one to my partner. The biggest feature improvement for me is the O2 sat monitor (extremely valuable to me because of my asthma) but that was also in the series 6. Might as well go for the bigger tougher screen given the choice though.

This will be my first Apple Watch, and the first watch I’ve worn for 20 years. Which straps do you all use? I’ve heard the braided one is worth paying the extra for.

I use the Sport Loop, which is the Velcro type strap. That’s the most comfortable I’ve found.

I've got a sports band (the black, green and red Black Unity one), 2 nylon sports loops (black and Jamaican flag Olympics edition and a third party dark brown leather strap.

I just use the strap it came with and it’s perfectly fine

When you say it doesn’t update anymore do you mean it won’t update due to some sort of fault or it’s eligible? The old air 2s are eligible to ios15.

Since the last update I can’t use safari on my MacBook Pro on certain websites (eBay, NatWest, Avios etc) because when I try and sign it says there was a problem loading the page, I now have to use Microsoft Edge which is really slow compared to safari, has anyone else had this issue and if so have you managed to fix it?

Maybe it's an air1.. I don't think it's a fault, it's just old. I only want tidal to work though so I'm not bothered about the battery getting mauled or anything like that. I'll look into jailbreaking it this coming week I think.

No problems with Safari on my M1 MBA, though there are definitely problems similar to this reported online. Hopefully an update will sort it soon.

Good call on the Mini. It's crazy to think how big phones have become over the last 10 years. The 13 Mini is still noticeably bigger than the 4S for example.

I really like the Starlight colour but cannot justify upgrading just now seeing as I've only had my 12 for about 7 months.

I keep on thinking about treating myself to a Apple Watch but can never really justify it for myself, one thing I’d mainly like one for is the sleep tracking so I can see if my sleep is as bad as I think it is most nights

How’s the battery life on them now? Recall it was really bad for the first few series of watches.

Double check your date and time is correct. Make sure set date and time automatically is checked and location services is enabled. Long shot but that could be it.

Battery life on my series 5 is brilliant. I’ll put it on at about 7am, and by the time I take it off at 7pm it’ll be at about 45%. I then stick it on charge and sometimes put it back on for sleep tracking which will be fully charged by then.

That’s not bad then, looking on the page it mentions Fitness +, is this actually needed or just gives extras to those wanting to pay £10 a month for it?
