I have updated all my devices and the new universal control is really good, I thought it would be something I wouldn’t have any use for, but after playing around with it for about 10 minutes I have realised I will probably use it everyday,

I hadn’t heard of that before (I can’t get Monterey on my old Mac anyway) but it sounds very neat. Does it interfere with using hot corners at all? I use them all the time, and wouldn’t want to make them more fiddly.

Has anyone found iOS 15.4 to be a bit buggy and slow?

I’ve had several apps freeze/crash, such as the Notes app.

I don’t use them but I would assume they wouldn’t work at the same time as universal control

I have had no issues so far, I read that some people are suffering from battery drain but mines all normal

I'm having an issue after the latest update where my ipad mini is taking a second or two to light up the screen when I press the top button. Is a little annoying.

Tbh I don't know what im doing with apple products and not sure it's worth the hassle. Maybe I'll just wait for the next update and hope that fixes it lol.

Slow down, erase/install is a bit extreme.
Have you done a power cycle?

It never fails to be simultaneously both a cliche and the best advice ever.

It’s really hard not to come across sarcastic with some of the tech we have at work when it gets an issue.

The first response is always ‘ try giving it a reboot’ because bizarrely it seems to fix most problems, but I think my staff thinking I’m taking the piss

As in off and on or a reset (volume up, volume down and hold power)?

But yeah, apart from some recent bugs I’m loving the iPhone 13. Looks great, superb materials, silky smooth and just a joy to use. Nothing revolutionary but does what it does extremely well.

AirPods Pro also wonderful to use. Phenomenal design.

I think the iPhone 14 has to reduce the size of the border around the screen though. And why can’t they just have a circle for the front camera (like the Galaxy) rather than the notch?

Just a standard shutdown and turning it back on is usually fine. You’ll only ever need to force it to restart with the up/down/sleep wake button combo if it’s frozen or something like that.

Damn my late 2017 MacBook Pro screen just died. The laptop still turns on but the screen remains completely off.
I would get a MacBook Air to replace it but not so keen with the fact that a new redesigned version is coming out later this year.

I can recommend the 2021 MacBook Pro, the screen and sound are fantastic, it’s super quick and runs silently and the battery is amazing

Thanks they do look amazing and I did consider them but for what I do I don't think it's worth the £1800 base model. All I do is stream Netflix YouTube etc and just surf the web. I don't do any editing or even gaming on it. So I ended up ordering the M1 Air for £887 at John Lewis

Or maybe it's worth paying an extra 700 to get a 512gb ssd and the much better screen and speakers of the 14in mbp?
I am not sure about the mba with is 400nit screen looks so dim.

If you just need a computer to zip through every day tasks with absolutely no problems, just get the MacBook Air M1. Honestly the best computer ive ever owned.

Yep, the M1 Air base model is still a beast.

Thanks ^
I ended up buying a MBP 14in but have not opened it. Going to go back to John Lewis tomorrow and exchange it for the MBA instead. I just can't justify an extra 900 for additional power and features that I don't need.

Update
I slept on it and decided to keep it because I want to future proof it in terms of the outer shell and overall design. The air just looks too dated with that old chassis from 2011 and a dimly lit screen of 400 nits.
Also the thinner screen bezel and the mini led display of the pro for watching Netflix and YouTube for the next 5 years that I will keep it for.
