How do you delete wallpapers on iPhone? Got about 4 or 5 I don’t need as I messed up when setting them up, can you delete them?

Lock screen, hold until zooms out, then swipe up.

God knows why it’s not in settings too. They could easily accommodate it there.

Rumours were true. Also new MacBook Pros with M3, M3 Pro and M3 Max.

The Max version starts at £3300!

Completely smashed the screen of my IPhone by dropping a dumbell on it :slol:

Ordered a new IPhone SE 2022, can I transfer from my old IPhone to the new one without the need of using the screen on the broken one? I do have ICloud so everything is backed up onto that.

I think you have to unlock the phone, so you’ll need the screen for that. But you should still be able to restore from the iCloud backup. It just won’t transfer quite as many settings.

I can unlock it, just the screen is not usable, would I need to select anything on the broken phones screen to do a transfer or could it all be done via the new one?

Apart from entering the passcode, you might have to just tap “yes” to agree to the transfer. Can’t remember exactly. Nothing much though.

Ahh ok, if I need to tap anything on screen that’s where I’ll be stuck, I’ll have to use the ICloud method I guess. Any idea if any saved passwords carry over in an ICloud transfer?

Should do. I can save a password on my phone, and have it work on iPad, so the new phone should pick them up.

Nice one, cheers for the info, ordered the new IPhone SE from Argos so will go and pick it up hopefully later today.

You know the 6 months free Apple Music sub you get with the AirPod pros, it says for new subscribers only. I have Apple Music but I can cancel it so it ends 30th November, if I were to buy and use the AirPod pros today, would I still be able to claim the free 6 months next week? Or does it automatically recognise I have it and then I lose the offer?

As I always take up free trials, my subscriptions have usually lapsed by that point when I re-subscribe. While I wasn't able to take up Currys 5 month offer that's currently running (said I had to be unsubscribed first), I was good with Barclaycard (which added 2 months of Apple Music onto my current free trial). Can't say I know what their precise terms are, tbh.

Apple has announced a new AppleTV 4K EE Edition streaming box, a first in the UK

Image

Those ordering the new box, which will be available exclusively via EE, features an integrated EE TV service with live channels, all via their Apple TV 4K box.

Subscribers will get an EE-branded Apple TV 4K streaming box and remote, which will come pre-installed with a unique EE app.

The new EE app features a TV guide which will combine the UK’s linear channels along with on-demand content from other broadcasters’ apps, streamlining the whole process - this is reportedly similar to Sky Glass and Freeview Play.

Rather than relying on over-the-air signals via an aerial, Freeview channels will stream via broadband.

Freeview channel availability and AppleTV EE Edition pricing is yet to be announced.

Is anyone here a heavy iPad user. I’ve had my iPad Air 2 for 7 or so years now and I love it. It’s the second iPad I’ve owned and I find them to be such great devices I use it for everything. It’s basically my main dossing about device. Even more so than my phone. I don’t really do anything fancy it’s just for browsing, watching tv/films and any admin I need to do online.

I feel like I’m hankering for a bit of an upgrade but I’m not sure how worthwhile it is. I don't think I really stretch my current ones abilities I’m just wondering if it’s starting to be a bit sluggish and I would benefit from a nice upgrade by several gens.

What do people reckon, is it even worth considering spending several hundred pounds for a bit of a luxury unnecessary upgrade or should I still stick with what I have given it does everything I need. Also have any other tablets really overtaken the iPad? I generally prefer the Google ecosystem.

So I got my new iPad and I’m pretty happy with it. I’m finding a weird bug when watching YouTube in chrome though.

When I tap to go full screen I get these white bars at the top and bottom of the screen so the surrounding of the video is not completely black. The top bar then disappears but the bottom bar remains and pushes the video up. It’s really strawberry floating annoying having this bright white bar at the bottom of the screen when I’m trying to watch a video.

I’ve tried googling it but can’t see mention of this specific issue rather everything seems to be referencing the address bar and turning on Guided access. This isn’t really what the problem and trying the fix for that doesn’t work.

Has anyone encountered anything like this and know how to fix it so I can get properly full screen YouTube video in chrome. The issue doesn’t occur when I watch in the YouTube app but I’d rather not switch to that every time I want to watch something.

The thing to remember is unlike phones, all iPads are 90% the same device so which one you buy is largely down to how many bells and whistles you want. Your current iPad runs the same processor as the iPhone 6 did and that came out a decade ago* Any iPad you buy now is going to be a heck of an upgrade in efficiency. Your choices are:

- iPad 9. Still does the business and available from £300 refurb. Basically the same chassis as your existing model.

- iPad 10. Updated design and a few different colours if that’s your thing. The biggest difference is the addition of USB-C charging albeit USB 2.0 transfer speeds. Normally about £500.

- iPad Air M1. Has a desktop-class processor capable of running a few high end apps, notably some newer games like Death Stranding and Resi 4. Has a laminated display to reduce reflections, better colours and USB 3.0 transfer speeds. Kinda the sweet spot but pricey at £650.

- iPad Pro M2. Over the Air you’re getting a wide angle camera, a 90hz screen and a processor improvement you’ll never notice. Capable of a desktop mode and driving several external displays. Expensive at £800.

If you just want a bump over your old one the iPad 9 is probably the best computer you can buy under £400. The iPad 10 does look nicer though and USB-C charging is really convenient but is that worth an extra £200? I don’t think so. Honestly if your budget stretches to £500 then the £650 for the latest Air isn’t really that much more and you’re getting a lot more for your money. Don’t bother with the Pro line at all.

*Whilst Apple tech does keep for beyond a decade and still maintain compatibility with iCloud you do risk missing out on security updates. To solve your Chrome problem just use the YouTube app or Safari.

I finally stopped procrastinating and ordered a Mac Mini. I'd been really tempted to get a new iMac, but the cost is daft. For hundreds less I can get an equivalent Mini (10% off at Amazon) and a 27" screen instead of 24". OK, the screen won't be quite as stunning, but it's better to have them separate if/when anything fails. I'll finally retire my 2007 iMac!

Routine question, but what do people do re. anti-virus on Macs these days?

Literally nothing.

But would be happy to take recommendations if Massimo or anyone else can suggest.

That's what I did with my old machine, but I'll be using the new one more extensively, including banking (and possibly for work), so might need more caution.
