Unless the build quality of their covers has improved I’d just get a third party option, remember when I got my first iPad alongside a ‘Smart Cover’ and it started falling apart/fraying after a relatively short amount of time, bought another thinking I’d got a dud and the same happened, just gone for third party covers since then as the edge of them still looks similar to the smart covers that barely lasted and I’m sure they were circa £50 as well. I’m currently using a Logitech Slim Folio keyboard/case and it’s great, granted it doesn’t have the massive range of positions of some of the official Apple stuff but considering I paid £65 for it rather than the now £180 for a similar Apple one! Obviously mine is running off of batteries rather than a smart connector but I’ve not had to replace the batteries in it yet and its been on since late November 2018 so not bad on that front either! Just having a quick look on the Apple store the Logitech one for the new Air is powered by the smart connector too so thats a plus point too.

Obviously I thought I’d see how much an upgrade would cost me to the Air (as no matter how much I use my iPad, I don’t think I could ever actually justify a Pro version), £837 is the answer and thats with the base storage option lol:

Apple One is available now with the first month free, it’s good they did that because I wondered how it would work with people like me with existing subscriptions, my Apple Music payment was only made a few days ago

Another Apple event on the 10th of November, highly rumoured to be the reveal of the ARM powered MacBooks, don’t need one but might watch as I won’t have a Series X and it’ll be good to see how they might perform with OSX.

Brilliant. It’s not as if another major US tech company is having a big hardware launch on that date, or anything.

That can't be coincidental.

Well its not like Xbox has any games to play is it, so we can all just watch this via our brand new Series X/S consoles

To be fair I probably will watch it via my Series X but you can be dam sure I’ll be playing something for a few hours before if it turns up early in the day!

Stuff that's come out about the Arm Mac line up has slightly killed my enthusiasm for them. They seem in line with mid range Intel AMD chips although with a better TDP but not gunning for the top end processors which was the rumor.

These are the entry level Macs.

Yeah, but there were loads of articles talking about how the chip in an iphone had the same performance as an i9 and I got a bit carried away.

Is there a specific article you're referencing because most of what I've seen has been pretty positive?

When they change the screen on these Macbooks, I'm in. Finally.

That battery life though is mightily impressive.

Change what about the screens? I believe these new MacBook Airs have a P3 colour display now.

Mini LED screens are coming next year to Mac and iPads, supposedly.

That new MacBook Air is great. For the price it is pretty much the same (there are some minor differences) to the new Mac Pro but without having to pay for the privilege of the stupid light bar.

Just bought myself a new iPad Air - can anyone recommend a good cover? Ideally, something that's not too bulky, as I'm loving how light the iPad Air is.

I went with the official smart folio cover for mine's.

Thanks - that's what I was edging towards, although I also like the Otterbox Symmetry cover they have (and that also gets good reviews). Am I right in thinking the smart folio 'just' covers the screen when not is use?

It covers the back as well and has a cutout for the camera.
