It always kinda surprises me that whenever I visit the UK Apple website, Mac products are never featured on their home page. Currently it’s SE, 11, iPad Pro, Arcade, AirPods, TV...anyone would be led to believe the Mac is the last of their products they wish to sell you.

Macs account for less than 10% of Apple's revenue.

I guess people don’t change their Macs every year. Quite how Apple tricked so many people into doing that with their phones is beyond me.

Probably a good idea, but it’s not for me.

It’s a good idea, I subscribe to Apple Music and I have Apple TV (free 12 months when I purchased my iPhone 11 Pro Max) and I should really get some storage so when I upgrade it’s easier to transfer everything, Apple Arcade I had for a month when it was free, so because I pay £9.99 just for music getting everything else for an extra £5 seems really good

Yeah, if you already subscribe to one or more of the services, it’s a great deal. Shame the basic tier is relatively stingy on storage though. 50GB just isn’t enough for me to do anything really useful with.

Didn't bother watching the event since there wasn't going to be anything about the phones, just skimming what was announced:

The watches seem to be in a similar holding pattern the iPhone was from the 6 to the 8. Unless you were desperate for some of those new features I don't see why you wouldn't go for a refurbished Series 4 to save £50 or whatever.

Very tempted by one of the new iPad Airs and a pencil, it's probably about time I replaced my iPad 4.

That Apple One subscription doesn't really offer me anything. I'm on Spotify and there's probably no chance of me switching to Music, but if I did I could get it for half price as a student.. Not really interested in Arcade or TV+ and I'm already on the 50GB iCloud plan for 79p per month.

Surprised iOS 14 is out today, wasn't expecting that till next month since they usually release it around the time of the new phones.

Is the new iPad Air now more powerful than the iPad Pro that's currently on sale?

Hmm, I might look to upgrade from my iPad Air 2 but looking at the prices I'd be torn between the 128GB Pro and 256GB Air as they're near enough the same price, which only leads me to think it might be a bit much when my current model still works perfectly fine.

EDIT - Actually, do new Apple products come with headphone adapters?

The Pro is still top of the range, A version of the A12z processor that in those was what they used in the Apple Silicon iMacs they demoed at WWDC a few months ago.

They stopped bundling in lightning adapters a few years ago.

For a company that defends privacy the 1984 style kids monitoring is a bit.. odd.

I also don’t see why they are pushing smart watches for a child over a phone. (I mean either is baffling to me at least till they are older) they are both expensive & both easily likely to be stolen/broke as a child.

I have a series 4 and won’t be getting a new Apple Watch until the next design change, I have not yet read what new features series 6 has yet but I am guessing I don’t really need them

Same with my Series 4, no interest in upgrading until there's a new case design. watchOS 7 seems decent and the new sleep tracking is nice (would have been better if it had a smart alarm though which I'm surprised they didn't add) but it's really annoying how they've removed force touch on devices that still have that technology. I like how they've sped up the animations, all the app transitions and stuff are a lot faster now. The new watch faces are decent too.

I’ve updated my IPad mini to IOS 14 and it’s taking an AGE to charge up now, I’m talking something ridiculous like it charged 23% in 2 hours!

Is this a known bug in the update?

I'm really liking iOS 14 on my phone so far. I've never been two arsed about widgets (including when I had an Android phone) so I've just got a small square stack of the weather and activity widgets on the top left, and that Siri App suggestion widget as the two bottom rows of icons.

btw I I definitely suggest going into Settings > Accessibility > Touch > BackTap and setting double or triple tap to something like opening Control Centre.

Not really had chance to mess around with iOS 14 yet to see what’s new (I imagine not loads though) but one thing I have noticed since updating last night is massive battery drain, at work I have it on airplane mode and just connected to their WiFi and as I don’t really get much chance to use it (other than on my break and checking the time) battery life is normally fantastic but not today, screen time of 25 minutes and brightness just above minimum and it’s down to 75%, battery health is 99% as well on my iPhone XR.

Anyone else found similar? Seems fine on my iPad 6th gen (although I have managed to lose the weather widget when moving then around on there :fp: ).

Edit, screen time at 45 mins now and down to 58%, this best get sorted in the first update for it, not used to charging my phone every 2 days!

I have noticed my battery is draining faster than normal, I turned it off and on again and it seems a little better but not the same as pre update

Well I’ve got it on battery saver already, been turned off overnight so I’ll see if it’s much better today.

Low battery drain after a major iOS upgrade is normal for a while since it's indexing files again
