All updated, the new home screen is horrid. The other was wasting lots of space but it wasn’t loads of tiny icons.

I’m going to have to totally reorganise to make it not look horrid.

No. I’m saving my £1k for a PS5.

Updated to iOS 13 earlier. Good to see they've finally added Swype..!

Is there any way of turning off the strawberry floating memoji suggestion on the emoji keyboard or is that *always* going to be the first thing I see instead of my frequently used emojis now? Classic Apple :dread:

I’ve not updated either of my iPhone or iPad, probably leave the iPad OS till I’ve got a day off next week so I can have a good bit of time messing about with it.

I have the 11 Pro. Really love the ultra wide angle lens.

Genuinely one of the worst things Apple has added to an update. Need to find a way to turn it off

The keyboard remembers your position so if you swipe to the emoji’s, next time to initiate emoji’s that’s what you should see, I think.

You change it back to the original layout in the settings.

Yeah I have done now. How the hell can they have the gall to to "redesigned homescreen" in their release notes and stuff when it's just 2 new columns!

I have a (refurb from apple) ipad pro 3rd gen arriving today. I'm just looking into how I'm going to connect stuff up to its USB C port. Has anyone got any experience with the various hubs etc that are available? I'm looking for one with a headphone socket and a USB A, plus USB C for charging as a minimum I guess?

Found a few on Amazon but the reviews seems to be polarised for every single one. Is there actually a good one out there? Some of them have high ratings because there are large amounts of reviews posted on the same day, which must be fake reviews I guess.

Yeah I was in the same boat. I didn't want to spend stupid money on one like review sites suggested (often around 80 quid!). I ordered one without a headphone socket but have yet to use it yet. I think it was around 20 quid.

I know it says it's not compatible, but reviews suggest it is. Also video reviews mention it works with the 2018 mode also. There might be one with a headphone socket included?

Thanks, I'll check it out. I'm going to see what kind of a lag there is using Bluetooth for audio. I have a Bluetooth audio receiver around in my man-drawer somewhere...

However, if I use the ipad as an sound module, any kind of lag will mess it up, so I may still need to go wired.

Ordered a 44mm Series 4 watch from Amazon Warehouse for £350 which seems like a pretty decent price shopping around (non-Warehouse ones were £380 and I couldn't be arsed with eBay). Was tempted to just get a Series 5 44mm but this was £80 cheaper plus it comes with a black sports band which Apple seem to have discontinued.

Should be a big jump coming from a Series 2 38mm.

Finally got round to updating both my iPhone and iPad to iOS 13/iPadOS 13, so far no issues :)

Update: Bluetooth Audio lags too much to be useful in the context of music making.

I went with a Satechi Hub: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07 ... UTF8&psc=1

Headphones sound great through this.

I then went to hook up my Keyboard to use some synth modules on the iPad - disaster! Note on/off data being dropped all over the place, so played notes were being missed, and some notes were 'sticking'.

A quick google later and it turned out that the weak link was my unbranded, poor quality midi to USB cable that I bought for £3 odd years ago from ebay. It's one of those situations where 'just any old cable' won't do as there is some data processing going on, and I'm suspecting that there were some data buffer overflow issues that caused my issues.
Bought a 'proper' one for about £30 - now all is perfect.

Set up the free 'iGrand' app, and it's incredible. So inspiring that I'm composing again, I could play it all day. I will drop some cash on the paid version but this project got over £80 more expensive than I planned already!

Like Blizzard it seems Apple are happy to put the needs of the Chinese state above the freedoms of its users:

Apple removes app used in Hong Kong protests after pressure from China

Apple has removed HKmap.live, a crowdsourced mapping app widely used by Hong Kong residents, from the App Store. The app and accompanying web service has been used to mark the locations of police and inform about street closures during the ongoing pro-democracy protests that have engulfed Hong Kong this year.

Wanting to get back into Apple devices so looking to get an Ipad for Christmas (Air 3) anyone know if places have done decent deals in past Black Friday sales with Apple products? Contract on phone isn't up till March 3rd so I'll be looking to upgrade to an 11 Pro hopefully.

I was waiting last year to see what ‘deals’ came about on even the base iPad, turns out next to nothing

I ended up going via the official store anyway, as buying the iPad I got £30 (or maybe £40, I can’t remember) off another purchase and as I was planning on getting an XR it made sense, John Lewis had an offer where you saved a bit if you bought an iPad and an Apple Pencil. Might be better this year, might not be.

Anyone tempted by the AirPods Pro? Wasn’t really tempted by them in the past but now they look like they’ll actually stay in when active I’m half interested in them, just not sure if they’ll be worth £250!
