It’s like the ultimate piss take, priced up just to see what they can actually get away with. Even if it was in a sale at 50% you’d still feel ripped off.

In fact you could ask someone to custom build it for you and it’d cost less.

I've not done a jailbreak in ages. They've added so much stuff in iOS over the past few years that I used to do it for. I think the only thing missing that I really want is haptic feedback when typing.

Can’t see it dying any time soon within the next few years either unless Apple go out of their way to make a Windows-specific version of the separate Music, TV and Podcast apps since the Mac versions of them are basically the iOS versions running on MacOS.
