Damn my AirPods Pros are broken already! Was in the middle of using them and it cut off and came back on but without any sound from the right AirPod. Spoke to Apple customer support, did a reset with no luck...only the left one works.
Taking it back to the Apple store now, I'm gonna ask for free Apple care as compensation, hopefully that isn't an unreasonable request

When my Vaio needed repair Sony gave me a free cleaning cloth.

In hindsight I should have requested a free car.

Exchange done :) she was really apologetic about it so I didn't ask for my deserved compensation ha
good that they didn't just offer to replace one airpod too.

I was late with getting AirPods and only had mine for about two years but I've loved using them so much that it seems these new one is so worth it!
If they are anything like the original it may be worth getting an extra pair to sell on eBay come Christmas when they would have sold out at Apple stores

This is worse, don't be a gooseberry fool human being.

Does anyone have experience with the Apple Upgrade Program? My brother is considering joining it to upgrade his iPhone 7 to an 11 Pro.

I'm assuming it's pretty much the same as the Samsung one. You pay an upfront deposit, then pay monthly for 12 months and upgrade to the new released handset at the end of 12 months for another deposit. If you choose not to upgrade you just carry on paying for another 12 months after which you keep the handset.
From what I gather it also includes Applecare?

Mafro wrote:I'm really impressed with them so far. Didn't get the chance to properly test them out until today with my commute into college, the bus I get always ends up being a shitty, loud single-decker packed with people and the noise cancellation works really well drowning most of it out. There's a lot of loud banana splits in my class and the noice cancellation makes the room completely silent which is great! Couldn't hear a word of what the person sitting next to me was saying but I could see his mouth moving :slol: It was actually pretty weird walking around town not being able to hear anything like traffic or people talking, it reminds me of when there's been heavy snow and everywhere is just silent. Really surprised how good they work given the size, they're about 25% shorter than the normal AirPods so they look less "daft" (if the look of them bothers you). The Transparency feature is impressive too, it turns off the noise cancelling and uses the exterior mics to let you hear noise as well as the music which is handy if you want to hear what's going on around you since you can hear better with that feature on rather than with it and the noise cancelling off since the buds are in-ear.

They fit in my ear better than other in-ear headphones I've used e.g. with the BeatsX I had to change the size of the silicone buds and use the little hook things it came with to keep them from falling out. These Pros fit great and there's an in-built thing that plays a short tune and uses the interior mics to determine which fit of the silicone buds are best for your ear (it comes with three different sizes). You don't get the weird pressure feeling like with other in-ear headphones either because there's a valve thing built in to equalise it.

Haven't tested the call quality with them but apparently it's just the same as the Airpods 2. Noise cancelling doesn't seem as good as my Bose QuietComforts but I wasn't really expecting them to be since they're basically best-in-class and over-the-ear.

Bit of a ramble but basically:

Sound quality - good
Noise cancelling - very, very good

Great stuff! Hearing that the noise cancelling works is fantastic as these will very probably be my next headphones. I remember when they were first launched and almost no-one that I saw on London transport was wearing them, then their use seems to have exploded and I see them everywhere. I'm not a fan of the original design but I didn't buy them because they have the same designed as the wired buds, which keep falling out of one my ears, so these make it much easier for me to join the herd.

Now you have to do a rain/gym and aeroplane test update!

Bought an iPad Air 3rd Gen for £363.40 (used a voucher code to knock over £40 off) happy with that price as was watching an opened hardly used one which went for over £20 more in an auction. Hopefully I can sub to the free 1 year Apple TV sub then box it back away till Christmas.

iPad Air 3 turned up today so before it could be taken off me and stashed till Christmas I set it up using my old iTunes account. Feels nice going back to an Apple product, actually can't wait till my contracts up for an upgrade with my phone at the start of March so I can get an 11 (Max or whatever its called) and be done with my laggy Galaxy S9 + :dread:

Any recommendations for a decent case?

Nothing really. But typing is sluggish along with constantly making spelling errors (preaching to the choir eh Errkal 8-) ) I wouldn't say I have massive strawberry floating thumbs and that gooseberry fool doesn't happen whenever I've used someone's iphone or even on my old 6 Plus when I had one of those.

No issues with storage so it's not because its crammed with apps slowing it down and like always I keep my device immaculate. If I was to remove the phone from its case it actually looks brand new considering I've had it near 2 years. Not a crack, scratch or dent.

Pretty much universally great news on the new MacBook Pro announcement today then, apart from the 720p webcam and maybe lack of new WiFi. HDR would have been nice too. Well pleased though, as I can finally get rid of this £200 lump’o’shite I’ve currently been using for the last few years.

When you say HDR, you mean the display? It is P3 wide colour gamut.

Apparently the screen doesn’t support High Dynamic Range material (HDR 10, Dolby Vision), such as from a game or movie, at least according to the previews I’ve read thus far.

Does anyone know comparatively how powerful the new Radeon Pro 5500m card actually is? I’ve noticed it can play games like Shadow Of The Tomb Raider, so I’m presuming we’re talking at least PS4 levels? Doing a bit of research, the previous MacBook Pro appears to be able to run it well on Medium settings, so would the new graphics card be able to Max it out, I wonder?
