I'm sure most people won't give a crap but Apple is going to inevitably lock down their M1 laptops so they can only run apps from the App Store and be unable to sideload anything.

I don't care how fast a computer is. I want the choice to install what K damned well please.

This won't happen.

It is the sort of thing Apple would at least attempt to do before making an about turn due to user feedback.

These new laptops do look very slick but I do still worry I won't be able to install a new torrent app of whatever in a few years time.

The new Macbook Air and Pro M1 has had a price cut at Amazon already: the 256GB SSD option is down to £949.97, 512GB option £1,149.97. Waiting list of up to 1 to 2 months on some though.

Pro 256GB is £1,249.97.

I signed up for Apple One on the day it started (the 30th of October) but today I have been charged £9.99 again for Apple Music, I would imagine the same thing has happened to everyone else depending on when there Music subscription is due to renew

Yep. I can't wait to see if and when they produce a rumoured 14 inch MacBook Pro that is powerful enough to do everything!

Does anyone here have Apple TV? Are there many original shows on there worth watching?

I'm planning to watch Mythic Quest, and binged through Ted Lasso this weekend (which I loved). Just wondering if there's much else on there worth watching or whether to cancel my trial once I'm done with Mythic Quest.

I enjoyed quite a few shows. Stand out for me was Servant, See, Tehran, The Morning Show, Mythic Quest, Trying, Defending Jacob and definitely Ted Lasso.
Home before Dark, Truth Be Told and Home Before Dark were okay.
Greyhound, The Banker, On The Rocks were enjoyable.

I'd probably give it a go for a month and depending on how much TV you watch you'll probably have enough there to keep you busy.

Just remember I got a year trial of Apple TV with my iPad Air that I was waiting to redeem till I got a PS5 since that has the app. Mythic Quest is apparently really good. Quite fancy the look of that alternate history space race one too.

So AirPods Max are up for preorder, I’m tempted and I have become to normalise Apples prices because I love the brand but £549 for headphones is pushing it a bit now

I guess they saw how expensive scalpers were selling consoles and GPUs and figured they'd save that extra margin for themselves. Ludicrous price compared to Sony or Bose which are considered top of class.

I've had my AirPods Max for just over a month now and they're brilliant. Sound quality, fit and noice cancelling much better than my Bose QCs and the build quality is amazing. They're obviously heavier due to the materials but the headband does a good job distributing it evenly.

I'm definitely going to be getting an M1 Mini sometime this year. Was planning on getting one of the latest Intel iMacs when they're on the refurbished store but the Mini rinses it in terms of performance and it's over £1500 cheaper than the one I specced up, plus there doesn't seem to be any major problems with compatibility with Intel software.

For that budget you'll probably only going to be able to get one of the models from 2014/2015, probably earlier.
