I only ever regret a takeaway when it's a crappy Chinese one that you get all in separate boxes, where everything is dripping wet and they have clearly focused on quantity rather than quality.

It's the 'meal in a box' stuff that I can't resist :nod:

Only takeaway I ever really get now is Dominoes. Usually when Everton are the televised game on a Saturday evening and I can't be bothered cooking. I was very happy that they recently brought back their cheeseburger pizza recently.

Mrs doesn't really like Chinese so not had one of them for years. This topic is really making me think about getting a Crispy Shredded Chilli Beef on Friday night. I do agree that while you enjoy them at the time afterwards you don't feel great and I think Chinese is the worse for this. Indian always seems a lot more wholesome.

We have Indian quite often on a Saturday night but never get it as a takeaway. Anyone else ever tried Charlie Bigham's range of ready meals? They do a great Massala and Jalfrezi. We get one of these and some starters from M&S.

I still think of takeaway as a treat. Not so much for the quality of food but more from a childhood memory type thing and the fact it's just more convenient then preparing yourself.

I don't mind some of Charlie Bigham's products, but considering how much be charges (£7.50!) you'd think he'd source the meat from the UK and to higher welfare standards, instead of posting pretentious twaddle on his website as to why his chicken isn't free range. People who have worked there really don't have very good things to say about it on jobs sites either, which doesn't really inspire confidence in eating it.

I wouldn't be surprised if they ended up on Dispatches or something at some point.

Happy to point out Rich's excesses but £25 is more than reasonable. When I was back in the UK we'd regularly plonk down £30 for curry for 2.

£25 is reasonable where we are. In fact that's our normal spend at the Inidian. Two curries, a portion of rice each, onion bhajis and a naan to share.

I'm amazed that the average is £1k a year on takeaway food but where I live has seen an explosion of takeaways in the town and we still only have Domino's and Ask from the branded places.
I honestly think I'd feel ill if I thought I'd spent that much as I'd much rather spend the money on something more long lasting or just have it as extra savings for a rainy day.

I don't really do takeaway pizza because they are greasy and not very nice. I'd rather a homemade pizza. So I wouldn't know.

Easily £25-30 for an Indian takeaway for two, but I usually have enough left over to make a smaller meal for lunch out of it so.i don't mind.

Chinese usually tops £30 for two, but they give so much food that we can usually have leftovers the next day of equal size to the first meal.

An independent pizza place opened near (ish) us but a) they don't deliver to my postcode and b) the pizza is pretty cold by the time I get it home. It's no more than five minutes door-to-door.

So I do tend to get Dominos or Pizza Hut for the sheer convenience. Plus, I do enjoy a cheesy bites crust. The main thing to remember is to take a drink to bed with you for when your mouth has shrivelled up in the night from all the salt :dread:

I've experienced this recently as well, though I never used to. I'll wake up at 4am and in desperate need of a drink.

Pizza Hut minimum order for delivery is 11.99

You can get a medium pizza from their favourites range for £5, and 2 cookie dough desserts for 6.99
